Det oplagte sted for naturelskere.

Ligger midt i et naturrigt område. Vi blev vækket til lyden af howling monkeys. Under morgenmaden så vi blandt andet en tukan, en kolibri og en næsebjørn - så er man naturelsker er det her sted det bedste! Personalet er søde og imødekommende og faciliteterne er super fine.

Nice location, poor ventillation.

Great location and accomodation, I have stayed in different rooms. Some rooms were much-much better than others. This second room was far inferior to the previous one. Especially the lower level rooms can be very cramped and as I mention later lack proper ventilation. Breakfast was simple but I liked it, you definitely can't eat it more than a few times though. The public areas were very nicely set up, the trails well kept and plentiful birds, monkeys and alike. The place is not overly close to main town but it is walkable (lots of uphill back!), there is a small convenience store nearby and a few restauratns.

Ventilation is very poor. There is just a tiny slit above the window to get fresh air in. Instead of providing ventilation with outside air, the facility provides some sort of electric air cleaning that you are supposed to run. I had to keep the door open to get the room to cool down. There is too much and too intense light sources around windows that look towards the main areas. You have to close shades really tight.

Aswesome place to visit MonteVerde region

Good location to visit the region. A very big room for four people, nice breakfast, private trail where we can see animals, nice staff providing good advices and helping for booking them.

Peacefull

I love the location and all the natural lotions, shampoos they have in the room. The breakfast good and very abundant way of treating they are not tight like other hoteles !!!

Wonderful hotel near Monteverde and Santa Elena reserves

This hotel exceeded our expectations in many ways! It's at the end of a pathway at the border of the forest, so there is no traffic noise and a lot of wildlife to see! We had a room on the top floor which was very quiet and private, with a terrace from which we could see lots of birds and animals. Breakfast was great and staff was very helpful. There is free coffee, tea and cake in the afternoon, and the hotel is conveniently located close to the city and not far from the national parks. Definitely recommended!

relaxed & comfortable stay among the natural beauty of the rain forest

beautiful & quiet setting in tropical gardens but close to the restaurants, cafes and shops of Santa Elena. A lovely touch was complimentary tea/coffee and cake in the main lodge every afternoon. There is a lovely terrace/platform where you can look out onto the rain forest and watch birds and the occasional howler monkey.

Great lodge in a lovely location

Views were great, breakfast lovely, nice touch home made cakes and tea/ coffee in the afternoons. Staff friendly. Close to some nice restaurants and some lovely sunsets. Well equipped lodge. Lovely part of the world.

It was a bit windy while we were there, which whipped around the property and it meant it was quite chilly at night, would have preferred a duvet rather than blankets to keep us a bit warmer! Bathrooms could do with an upgrade ( shower was good though!) rest of the lodge is great and really clean and tidy.

I would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area.

The property was beautiful. The staff was so friendly. They brought breakfast to your door at your requested time. We ate it on the deck overlooking an amazing view of the garden.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Great hotel and base for exploring, super helpful staff

The staff were super helpful with recommendations and booking tours/taxis. the breakfast was good, the views and grounds were just gorgeous, such a lot of wildlife right on the property.

Our room was very humid and there was a dehumidifier on 24/7, but our clothes still ended up feeling a bit damp. Outdoors didn’t feel as humid as indoors, so I’ve no idea why it was so bad, or maybe it was just our room (ground floor).

Amazing stay, beautiful location

Staff is exceptional, very nice and helping with everything you need Clean Good breakfast You can look at birds eating fruits prepared for them while having your breakfast Everything around is green and lovely, there are 3 restaurants in 10 mins walk radius

At one with nature in wonderful Monteverde

We felt at one with nature at Cala Lodge - the room was small but perfectly appointed, with huge windows on three aspects that really helped take in our beautiful surroundings. Shower was the hottest and most powerful we had in Costa Rica! Breakfast was great with breathtaking views from the balcony. Staff were super friendly and helpful, and Santa Elena was a short 15 minute walk downhill, with taxis super easy to get back ($4), or a steep but swift hike back if you feel up to it - we did it twice and it was fine! However my personal highlight was the nature trail that runs through the grounds, we spotted coatis, agoutis, mot mots, hummingbirds, capuchin monkeys - and loved finding the unexpected seats, swings and loungers along the way. Completely recommend a stay here.

Nothing at all! There were some very naughty capuchin monkeys that enjoyed coming onto the balcony to try and steal food - we loved them but appreciate this can be an issue for some. However this is their home and we loved being able to share it with them :)

Superb

Very nice stuff, located in the forest, lots of green , on the edge of the city. Yet it is great location close to very nice and good restaurant.

There is no heating in the room. We visited in October, and it was a bit cold for us

A lovely cloud forest accommodation.

The setting of the property is beautiful, with a view over a deeply forested mountain and valley, with ethereal clouds drifting by. We saw monkeys, agouti, coati, and toucans, as well as countless hummingbirds and butterflies on the property. The staff was most helpful and hospitable. There are several choices on the breakfast menu and all were good. Our room was comfortable with good bathroom features, and it had a beautiful balcony with a view. We were able to walk to a couple of good restaurants and a bakery in the near vicinity, and for us, downtown Santa Elena was within walking distance, although it is a steep hill so I don't know whether that would be accessible for everyone. There is a sidewalk all the way, but it is narrow, so don't think I would do it after dark. I will certainly return to stay at Cala Lodge when I return to Monteverde!

The wi-fi connection was a bit quirky in our room. Sometimes it was there and sometimes not. But connecting in the main lobby and dining room area was not a problem.

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were amazing!! The rooms could use new linens, and towels.

The staff are really friendly, and so helpful. They set up several tours for me, along with transportation. There’s a beautiful little trail on the property. The breakfast was excellent, they had several options.

They had no A/C, or heat in the rooms. Luckily it wasn’t to hot during our stay. Our room was ok but the towels were super thin, also the bedding could use a refresh.

Second stay in cala lodge and still excited about this hotel! Breakfast is amazing, staff is always there to support you with any kind of request, rooms are moderate to large in size and the surrounding is breathtaking. I love staying in cala lodge.

Great for bird lovers

We enjoyed the nature path around the property, saw animals. They have a birdwatching point from the veranda with a feader, lots of gorgeous birds come and they have a bird identifying book. Very environmental.

Since it's cold in the evening, a coffee maker in the room would have been nice.
