Too many stairs for elderly people.lighting was very poor in the room. No toaster, shower head was very poor

Lovely old building in a good location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was nearly fully self contained. The price was good compared to other hotels in town. Good for solo travellers.
The bed was a bit small and old but otherwise good and comfortable.
The communal showers were OK. But most of the upper floor ones were locked. Not by people using them but they were locked with bolts so no one could use them. Of the six that were there, only two were usable. Luckily both were available whenever I needed to use them.

Great for a heritage stay and a lovely location to walk along the river there.
Its not that I didnt like it, but you do have to watch your parking times (I was on a weekend so I was fine) but it is timed parking along the river, otherwise you find parking in surrounding areas.

The staff was polite, although a bit unorganised. The hotel was not easy to navigate (missing directional signs). The food was great but the pub was as often very busy and loud (inconvenient for the restful night). The security did not distinguish pub guests and hotel guests. Interrupted my meal twice since treating me as a pub guest. It appears there are different rules. Needed to present the key twice, during each meal (dinner and lunch). The location was exceptional- located on the river and riverside walkway. The room is dated, which has charm, but needed to be cleaned better. The bed sheets were clean, though the mattress needs replacement. The shower is in the room, but the toilet is on the other side of the floor.
The bed, cleanliness, signs around hotel, instructions for parking, security needs to be more informed who is a hotel guest and who is just a pub goer.
