Writing this review keeping in mind that I have expectations from a 5 star hotel, and comparing it with other 5 star hotels from Greece, Tenerife, Turkey.
The hotel has a lot of potential and several things we really enjoyed. The location is a major advantage, especially the proximity to the beach. The beach itself is beautiful, with fine sand and clean sea water.
There are three swimming pools, all well maintained and enjoyable. The only downside is that they close at 18:00 PM, although guests seem to be allowed to stay for a little longer afterwards.
The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the windows and balcony door provided very good sound insulation, keeping outside noise to a minimum.
The gym was also a plus, as it can be opened earlier upon request.
Food was generally good. The freshly prepared food was very tasty, while the pre-prepared options were decent overall. The desserts were also good — the milk baklava and tiramisu were particularly delicious.
The rooms were cleaned daily, which we appreciated. There is also a small playground for children and entertainment activities/animators.
Unfortunately, the hotel would benefit greatly from renovation and better maintenance. Much of the furniture feels old and worn. We noticed stained curtains, dirty walls, worn mattresses, and significant limescale on the bottom parts of the shower door and bathroom mirror.
Although housekeeping cleaned the room every day, some details were disappointing. The towels had yellow stains, and on one occasion the cleaning staff put a torn bedsheet on the bed.
Another issue was the lighting in the room. The balcony light stayed on until 23:00 PM and there was no switch available to turn it off. Since the curtains were quite transparent, a lot of light entered the room in the evening from the balcony and early in the morning from the sun, making it difficult to fall asleep and stay asleep.
The TV had only a limited number of channels, mostly local ones.
Bathroom amenities such as toothbrushes, soap, shampoo and vanity kits were not available in the room and had to be requested from reception. It would have been much more convenient to have these items already provided.
Regarding the food, there could be more variety. Some products, such as frozen bread and frozen French fries, were disappointing, as we expected fresher options. At breakfast, there were no simple cornflakes, only oats and seeds.
Another inconvenience was the beach towel schedule: towels could only be collected between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Since check-in starts at 14:00 PM, guests arriving later — as we did — cannot get beach towels on their arrival day.
Overall, Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue has many positives, including its location, beach, pools, comfortable beds and tasty freshly prepared food. However, the condition and cleanliness of some parts of the rooms, as well as a few organizational details, prevent it from reaching its full potential. With some refurbishment and better attention to detail, it could offer a much better experience.
