Incredible location, steps away from Callao subway and about 7 minute walk from Puerta del Sol, right on the Gran Via, loads of relevant and cool things to do around as well as around the corner from a Carrefour and a Starbucks in case something quick is needed.
Everything was great, I just wish we had some more toilet paper and soap but it ended up being fine, I also didn’t ask for it.

Room was clean and spacious enough. Staff were friendly and helpful (super instructions for airport transfer sent proactively). Location was good (right on GranVia) with 3 Metro stations in close proximity plus walking distance to many of the main tourist spots.
The elevator was tiny (two people only) and so we used the stairs (4 flights). Personally this wasn't an issue (but I did repeatedly bang my head on a fire extinguisher at Level 2 - my fault, no one elses).

Inna was very friendly and service-oriented. Despite its location in a bustling part of town, the room was very quiet.
The overall appearance is a bit shabby and has the feel of a budget accommodation. The walls are quite thin admitting sounds of movement and conversation from the hallway or adjacent rooms. The Hostal Lauria is very suitable for a traveller on a tight budget who needs to be right on the Gran Villa. Otherwise, pay more for one of the full-service hotels. Or better yet, choose one of the nice boutique accommodations a few blocks away in the charming residential neighborhoods of Madrid.
