I highly recommend Casia Roby to those traveling to San Cassiano. It's a small "hotel" a short distance from the center with all the necessary amenities we needed as we prepared for a 5 day hike across the Dolomites.
When we arrived the host was warm and welcoming. The room was ready as planned. In addition, he offered tips on using the free bus service in the summer, as well as invited us to the appertivo that evening for guests. We got lucky because on that day they host a enormous spread of hors d'oeuvres with hugos and other drinks. It was a nice surprise. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, and the dinner options for guests were also quite nice and well-prepared. It should also be noted that "Team Roby" is really a very friendly set of staff and they do seem to sincerely care about their guests.
For English-speakers you may need to ask to translate the dinner menus from German or Italian. Most of the staff speak English, but for many it is may be their 3rd or even 4th language considering Ladin is widely spoken in the valley. However, we never had any challenges with communicating.
There's nothing that was off are could have been better.

Giorgio and the staff were very nice. Breakfast was excellent, the room clean and comfortable. Location central and 5/10 minutes away from the slopes.

Small town so everything was closed by walking. Extremely nice staff. Free garage. Good warm water after a sky day. Nice breakfast and an option to reserve dinner as well (only for the hotel guests so it felt very private). In our last day they offered us to leave the car in the garage until we’ll finish skiing and offered us to change our clothes in the hotel before leaving.
The bed was a bit hard and the pillows were thin and hard as well.
