The rooms and stairways have lots of character, with arched stone ceilings. Our double room was simply but comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean. The airconditioning worked well, even in the very hot weather. You can climb the stairs to a tiny sitting area and up further stairs to a small kitchen area and then up further stairs to a two-level roof terrace, which is quite a common feature in buildings in the historic centre, and gives views over the rooftops and churches of the old town to the sea. A simple but delicious breakfast is served on the roof terrace, with fresh local pastries.
The property is located along a narrow, traffic-free, mainly residential street, right in the heart of the historic centre, but is very quiet at night. You are just minutes walk away from historic sights, lovely restaurants and shops, the beach and harbour.
The owner is very friendly and helpful with luggage storage etc.
It wasn’t a problem for us, but the property does have a lot of steep, narrow stairs.
And, not a criticism of the accommodation as such, but if you are arriving by train at Monopoli station, the accommodation is too far to walk with luggage and there isn’t a bus stop nearby. When we arrived in early afternoon, there were no taxis available from the station and, when we did eventually manage to get a taxi, it cost us €20 to go a few blocks, from where we had to walk the rest of the way, as most vehicles are banned from entering the historic centre.

We loved our stay at B&B La Porta Vecchia. It is a beautiful property in an excellent location, right in the heart of Monopoli and perfectly placed for exploring the historic centre and nearby seafront.
Our host, Cosmina, was exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful. From the moment we arrived, she made us feel completely at home.
Our room was beautiful, spacious and airy, with a lovely atmosphere. Everything was clean, comfortable and thoughtfully presented. Breakfast was also very good, with a nice selection of food, and sitting out on the terrace each morning was a particularly enjoyable way to start the day.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend B&B La Porta Vecchia to anyone visiting Monopoli. We would be delighted to stay here again.

Everything. Location is perfect inside the historic center of monopoly, close to restaurants cafes and the beach. Breakfast was marvelous and homemade prepared by the owner herself (Cosima). Cosima and Gabriella were super friendly, made my stay unforgettable

Nice room in an old building inside the old town, close to everything and very clean. We arrived earlier, and luckily our room is ready early. The host also makes great hand-made breakfast which is delicious.
