The view from our room is breathtakingly beautiful.The owner of the inn was accommodating.We have enjoyed our stay there.
The incense sticks were too strong.

Great views of the Ella Gap. Away from the busy, noisy and rather ugly town centre. The owner was very helpful and booked a mornings Tuk Tuk to get to the Tea Plantations and a taxi to take us from Nanu Oya to Kandy. Both very good value and the drivers were superb. Value for money is an issue in Sri Lanka, especially compared to other countries. However compared to other hotels in Sri Lanka then the price point was good.
The rooms are somewhat dated and with minimal furnishings. If you had mobility issues then the hotel's stairs would be a struggle. The neighbouring hotels slightly impose themselves. Indeed Ella didn't seem to have any planning restrictions and what could have been a beautiful mountain town was ruined by the chaotic developments which are springing up everywhere. Thankfully the hikes, things to do in the area make up for it!

We stayed in the deluxe family room, three comfortable double beds and the view was absolutely stunning. We had a lovely, large balcony with loungers and beanbags.
Easy location for Ella town, just less than 10 mins walk down the hill. Around 20 minute walk along the train tracks to nine arch bridge. Short tuk tuk ride to everywhere else.
The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was huge and delicious.

A nice large property with a lovely English style garden. The space, style and interior 3 bed property we were in was nice. The staff lit an open fire for the evening when it got a bit chilly and we ate a home cooked dinner in the property served by the attentive staff.
We had requested in our booking the afternoon tea option (as stated in their booking confirmation, requiring 48 hours notice). It was our wedding anniversary and a 5 hour drive from Sigiriya- so thought this would be a nice reception in their garden. We got only a cup of tea which was hugely disappointing. The meal for 5 was $100 so very expensive for a very simple 3 course meal of mushroom soup, curry and rice (1 drumstick each) and a sliver of crème caramel. Attentive service but surprisingly lacking in spice for Sri Lankan traditional food.
The least favourite part was the main bedroom being extremely damp. There was a strong smell of damp and when we hopped in to bed realised all of the bedding was actually damo, as was the loo roll! I slept within my own towels.
Upon telling the staff in the morning, they said they’d investigate but this can hardly be a new problem - there is visible damp on the bathroom walls and the source of the night long dripping was clearly evident from the roof and pooling of water…
Disappointed. Mishaps and misunderstandings can be forgiven but pretending problems don’t exist is another. Shame as the property could be nice.
