Wonderful family with an absolutely gorgeous home! It's out of the way from town but they will come pick you up. The family is super nice and welcoming which made us as foreigners feel at home.
The waterfall in their backyard created the most surreal and relaxing vibes ever while eating dinner and breakfast and while relaxing in the Onsen. It was great to experience a traditional Ryokan in this way!
The price was a little steep but you do get what you pay for. The hospitality and wagyu that's served at dinner plus the experience of a private Onsen are wonderful but I'm not quite sure if it's ~$500 wonderful for a single night.

We travel often and this is easily one of the best places that we have ever stayed. The host family is incredible, they were immensely accommodating by picking us from Nakatsugawa and driving us to Magome for the start of our hike and then the picked us up in Nagiso to take us to the Onsen. Their home is incredible with spectacular views of a waterfall, the food is delicious and the baths warm and relaxing.
If you are walking the Nakasendo you should looks no further than Takimi Onsen Inn, you will have an unforgettable experience.

Beautiful Japanese house. Right in the middle of the forest. Nice elderly people take care of it, and it felt that they really took care of us too. Making sure that we eat enough and that we have all we need. The hotel is very simple but beautiful. And has everything you need.
The waterfall right on the property is amazing. Dinner and breakfast cooked by the people in the hotel was amazing.out whole family parents and 2 teenagers had a great time, and we’re sad to leave.
This was the best place we stayed in in Japan. We would love to return.
