Location was fantastic for a nearby wedding, beds were comfy, electric blankets on the bed which for me was a lifesaver as I’m a cold frog (+ modern splitties! Everything was super clean, staff were very helpful - we left behind our clothing in the cupboard (whoops!) and were notified of this, they were very helpful in helping us sort this!

Set in a beautiful area away from town but a nice walk to get to it. Rooms & beds were clean and tidy and the shower was good flow & hot. A youth hostel appeal with lovely views from most windows. Couches in the lounge were comfortable and the closed fire place was a delight to sit around at the end of the day. Toaster, kettle, microwave, bowls, cups and small wine glasses were handy for prep of a basic breakfast.
Allen is lovely & very helpful.
The external appearance is run down not matching pictures when booking. Hallway carpets tired and curling presenting trip hazards. Old fake faded dirty flowers around the place did nothing to improve the appeal. Lawns un cared for and other garden areas becoming over run with weeds.
The games room consists of a pool table in very bad condition and cues that were almost unusable & a few tables that second as chess boards. The lounge had a musty smell with books riddled with silverfish and an out of tune piano. Not enough wood for the fire.
No access to tv both days we were there because the security guard turned off something that he shouldn’t have. Same guard gave us the impression we had to be out of the lounge at 10:30 when apparently we didn’t have to leave.

The lodge was unfortunately a bit run down during our stay. There was no TV remote in the room, and because the TVs are quite old, there is no option to watch Netflix. It was also impossible to get the shower at a pleasant temperature. Additionally, the tennis court was under construction, and the room had very poor noise insulation. On a positive note, the owner, Alan, seemed like a very nice chap."
