We loved the private onsen, particularly the outdoor one - that's the one to go for! There were six of us so we got a whole dorm room to ourselves, which was perfect. J-Hoppers is in a great location, particularly if you are walking the southern route of that portion of the Kumano Kodo. We walked the other way and caught a bus from Hongu, which was really easy, and caught the bus back to Hongu in the morning to start walking again - super easy. The You Got It bar had great food, and is less than 100 metres down the road. Yunomine Onsen is the most gorgeous little town, one of the most beautiful towns any of us had been in our lives, highly recommended!!
Breakfast was very basic, rice porridge with no flavouring and very bitter pickled plums but everything else was great. It's a busy place due to the value for money, but the facilities can accommodate everyone well.

The location was great for Kumano Kodo travelers. The outdoor Onsen was great but bring your own shampoo/conditioner as theirs was inadequate for my hair type.
The free rice congee was a nice touch in the morning, along with onsen eggs purchased at the cafe down the road.
The capsule/dorm style accommodations was mixed gender and very uncomfortable. Men snoring loudly and thin futons make for uncomfortable sleep conditions
