Nestled in Avon, this attractive cottage for $232 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Welcome to Hatteras Island! This cozy beach cottage is located just one back from the sands of the pristine Cape Hatteras National Seashore. With two bedrooms, one bath, and an open living and dining area, this is a perfect spot for your beach getaway. There is plenty of parking space, a covered area for equipment/gear, a fish cleaning station, outdoor shower, ROKU TV With Hulu Live, high speed Wi-Fi, and a shared laundry room. Beach access is across the street, and there are restaurants and shops within close walking distance. As a local resident, I can assist with any questions or concerns you may have during your stay, as well as point you in the direction of adventure and fun! I look forward to seeing you at the beach!

This house is in a great location but it is poorly maintained.
The roof leaked, we were locked out of the only bathroom and it was not cleaned properly so we did some of it ourselves.
It was not ready at check in time but this was not a problem for us as we arrived late.
This could be a good house if it was better maintained.

Detail clean when possible. Trash behind both chess drawers. Fire extinguisher out of date. Smoke alarm was sitting on shelf. Trash can outside stunk . Good access to beach. I would suggest less kitchen items and don’t keep what other renters left behind. Have less but have utensils clean. I would not trust bottles of spices, etc that people left. Quiet.

The house was exactly as advertised. Good location to either walk to beach or drive 3 minutes to escape people so our dogs could run off leash on the National Seashore Park. Plenty of nearby restaurants and shops, it was a wonderful stay!

Dog friendly - get away
It was nice to have an option to stay with our 2 dogs at the beach. We enjoyed walks on the beach and sitting on the deck at night and watching the stars. Home was a good size for 2 adults and 2 dogs. However home could use a professional cleaning and is in need of some maintenance and repair. Owner was quick to respond regarding plumbing issues, but the decks and stairs are in need of TLC and not recommended for anyone with children or issues climbing steps.

We loved the wall of glass sliding doors and the large & comfy couch. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for the week. Chase was super responsive and communication top notch. I am requesting a refund of $1,813 of the $4,697.54 paid to Chase Davenport due to the fact that the owner did not uphold the implied warranty of habitability for Reservation ID# HA-G6F1YG (June 12-26 2021).This rental property did not meet basic living and safety standards.This refund request has previously been sent to Chase (property owner) on 6/26/2021 via VBRO messages with no reply.The septic system was not operational the first week of our stay & was repaired the second week of the stay. The aroma of sewage & water overflowed from the septic tank every toilet flushed, laundry & dishwashers run or someone takes a shower in the unit. After alerting Chase of the severity, he sent a friend over to spread Lime powder around the overflow area.The area around the unit was wet to the point, the person mowing the grass was wearing knee high rubber boots. When the sewer construction was complete, we were left with no internet & cable.I alerted Chase. He insisted the outage was NOT due to construction.However, it was due to construction, and the cable company ran a wire across the newly dug yard to the nearest telephone pole.In addition to the septic issues, the property had other defects.The property advertised shared laundry, which anyone would assume is designated to individuals staying at the property. On numerous occasions, I witnessed individuals arrive at the property, that were not renters, and use the laundry facilities. It is an unsettling feeling to see strangers at your rental unit at various times of the day. I also requested that Chase ask the other renters in the units to not use the laundry facilities until the sewer was fixed, because of the massive overflow & stench that was escaping right next to our unit’s outdoor space. The use of laundry facilities by his friends only exasperated the issue of smell & overflow. I also do not believe the cleaning was up to the new standards that must exist due to Covid. The towels & sheets for the units, lay thrown and un-folded. I would also question the structural integrity of the steps up to the unit.Many of the steps appear to have been repaired by a non-professional.I even noticed a gap or two in the railing that should be addressed. On our last night, a tractor trailer arrived at 10:30pm, to pick-up the 2 pieces of heavy machinery that were used during construction.I have documented the above items & happy to share. This home should never have been rented in this condition.

Decent house, needs fine tuning
The distance from the beach is great, you just need to cross the street and climb over the dunes to get to the beach. The house was decent, and as advertised, but needs some attention to detail. The lighting was poor and it would have been great to have ceiling fans in each room. The kitchen was well stocked but could use a few more sets of silverware for a family of 4. All the appliances were new, and worked well, which was nice. The grill was missing the bottom grate for the coals to sit on which rendered the grill useless. The deck and stairs have seen better days and were soft to walk on in many places with the railings falling off, and the deck chairs were flimsy. Chase was very helpful and responsive with anything we needed. Overall, we had a great week and it was a fine place to stay, but it's got a ton of potential to be an awesome little cottage!

Lovely cottage in Avon, NC
Great location, open floor plan with a beautiful wall of windows, short walk to a great beach and nice comfy furnishings. We loved our stay and hope to get back to this cottage again. It was perfect for our family - 2 adults, a teenager and our small dog. Chase was very helpful and responded to questions very quickly. We had a great time - Thank you Chase!

We had a great time at this property. Chase was very friendly, gracious, and responsive to our inquiries. The unit had most of the essentials (including some that we hadn't expected, and had brought with us just in case), and the location was awesome. We will likely consider staying at this property again in the future.

Rustic but charming
The property is very clean, and the owner went out of his way to make sure we had everything and could check in when we wanted. It is rustic but extremely charming and in a great neighborhood. Added plus is the front porch is all gated off so our dog happily came in and out and in and out! Great hideaway for a long weekend.
