About this house rental

A fully remodeled 1100 square foot adobe home, with one large bedroom and a fully equipped kitchen, living room, bathroom with a walk in shower. Situated on the High Road to Taos in historic Truchas New Mexico. The large windows in the bedroom fully frame the view of the Truchas Peaks, which at 13,100 feet dominate the surrounding countryside. There is also an additional 400 foot covered portal for a relaxation during your breakfast dining or happy hour.

The adobe was fully remodeled 10 years ago with a new kitchen and bathroom - many of the old elements such as the vigas and adobe walls were retained. The casita is equipped with traditional details including hand carved furniture, plastered walls and wooden floors.

Solar panels have also been installed within the past 5 years to reduce our carbon footprint.

This was our fourth—or perhaps fifth—stay at this property, and each visit has only strengthened our appreciation for it. We travel to this area regularly, and whenever our stay is more than a couple of nights, this is our first choice. As someone who has spent a career studying and teaching the relationship between people and the built environment, I appreciate accommodations that are thoughtfully designed rather than merely well appointed. This property succeeds because it creates a genuine sense of place. It is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and offers the rare feeling of being both welcomed and completely at home. The architecture and interiors balance comfort, functionality, and understated elegance. Every detail feels intentional, creating an environment that invites relaxation rather than simply providing a place to sleep.Equally important is what you leave behind: crowded parking, noisy hallways, slamming doors, and the distractions so common in traditional hotels. Here, you enjoy privacy, independence, and the quiet comfort of a space that truly feels like your own.The greatest compliment we can offer is that this property has become part of the destination itself. We no longer think of it simply as a place to stay, but as an essential part of why we enjoy returning. That is a rare achievement.

This casita is so charming, and beautifully remodeled. It’s very cozy, well stocked with kitchen essentials for cooking (bring your own food), and had plenty of toiletries had we not packed something. The hosts were extremely communicative and gave us day trip and restaurant recommendations prior to our arrival. Check in/out could not have gone more smoothly. Although there isn’t a lot to do in Truchas, it is a beautiful little village and there is so much to see and do in the surrounding areas. My husband and I enjoyed the tranquility and the outstanding views from the covered patio. I highly recommend the hosts and this home should you find yourself in the area. We visited Santa Fe, Chimayo, and Espanola during our very short stay, and we can’t wait to visit again.

This is our second time staying here, and we loved it as much as last time. Quiet, peaceful, gorgeous views, beautifully furnished. Plus excellent hosts. In short, the perfect place for my husband and I to rest, reflect, and just enjoy everything this slice of heaven has to offer.
