Dorpat is a beautiful old hotel in a lovely location right next to the river. It’s also extremely close to the bus station, which makes getting to and from Tallinn really easy and convenient.
For me, the two best things about this hotel are the location and the breakfast. The breakfast buffet was fantastic — lots of choice, good quality, and excellent value for money. If you’re staying here, the breakfast is definitely worth having.
The rooms are great, the breakfast buffet is excellent, and the location next to the river is really lovely. If you get a room facing the river, you also get some beautiful views from the window.
Overall, Dorpat is a very decent hotel for the money. If they sorted out the air conditioning and upgraded the TVs to something modern with a YouTube app, it would be pretty close to a perfect hotel for a stay in town!
The one thing I would have to gripe about is the air conditioning. It’s pretty much non-existent. We stayed on a fairly warm day, and the room didn’t cool down properly, which unfortunately meant we had a poor night’s sleep. Having decent, effective AC would make a big difference, especially during warmer weather.
