Comfy, safe and fun

Room was comfy and close to amenities. TV however didn't work. The heater did though

Last resort hostel

Reception and cleaning staff are very nice. Once or twice a day there is a cleaning in the common areas and bathrooms. Location is not too far off from the free tram zone

The kitchen is incredibly small, only 2 stoves, cooking in there is like a warzone. Rooms aren't clean at all. Wifi is bad and disconnects constantly. Very few showers with warm water. It's too expensive for what it is

Cheap accommodation in Fitzroy

Nice staff and nice common areas. Bed and matress were comfortable.

Thin walls so you could hear a lot of noise. Not a lot of showers and toilets.

Very good

I really liked the people! It was a great community atmosphere with the other boarders. I also really liked the Free Soup Night, and the lounge room with space to relax, chat to people and play games.

The showers were not very good (on the 2nd floor main bathroom)

Great place to stay for a few nights and to explore Melbourne.

I didn't know there was breakfast included. Fantastic location. Lovely old building and comfortable rooms.

A great location with friendly staff.

a great location close to Brunswick St. A friendly vibe and very clean.

The noise. Expected so close to the action on a weekend with travellers, but I was woken overnight from the party loud returnees around 1am, 2.30am and 4am!

Depressing!

I’ve stayed here many times before. The staff have always been super friendly and although budget accom, it always seemed clean and well maintained. This time staff were unsmiling, showers were poorly maintained, missing doors etc. toilets overflowing with garbage. Normally get a bigger bed too! Surely as repeat customer they coulda shared more love?!

The staffs are very nice and accommodating. Tram stop is right outside. Reasonable price.

the location is great and its such a nice building.

- only one shower and toilet for like 8 rooms - the bed is super old and makes a lot of noice when you turn around - it is a very small room and does not even have a sink

Good

The hostel is certainly unique in ots atmosphere. It has a nice downstairs lounge to hang out. The quiet time after 10-11 in the evening was generally very well kept and it was possible to sleep no problem. There are plenty of breakfast / lunch / dinner spots nearby. The transport connection to the coty center is very good as well.

On my floor the showers got warm only episodically. My bunk bed was coming apart and making horrendous sounds. That was finally replaced in the last day on my stay. There is no breakfast / coffee / tea provided.

if you’re looking for a budget option I get it, but there’s much nicer places to stay in Melbourne, try the competition!

decent location, nice neighborhood, close to CBD, beautiful park across the street

no air con no working shower in en-suite female dorm messy kitchen creaky beds, if you’re on the top bunk and the person below you tosses and turns, it feels like you’re sleeping on a boat (had trouble sleeping well)

Also, I tried to upgrade to a private room and they have an outraged rule that to upgrade you need to pay for the new room while also paying for your original reservation. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels, never seen such a nonsense rule.

Homely vibe - lovely aesthetic!

The location of this hostel is superb! So close to Melbourne museum and lots of cool bars and shops just a ten minute walk away. The four bed female room was lovely and spacious with lots of drawers and huge wardrobe, plus some small lockers suitable for small valuables like passport and purse etc. The staff at reception were super helpful and let me check in hours before I was expecting.

It's been said before.. but the kitchen really is tiny - I underestimated how small it actually was until I saw it myself, plus it closes at 10pm. Also, there's no lift to get up to the top floor (understandable as it's an old nunnery haha), so if you have heavy luggage, it may be worth requesting a room on the ground floor if available! :)

Comfy, quaint, good location

Close to tram transport, quaint old building, close to many eateries and Brunswick St shops.

As can be expected from shared bathrooms and kitchen, not everybody is considerate.

Fun packed and fully of memories.

Great location. Friendly guests and staff. Lots of information available about Melbourne be the local area of Fitzroy. Plenty of planned weekly activities like night markets, bar crawls, yoga, trivia. Everyone is respectful and it’s easy to meet people and make friends.

I personally really like the property but its not easy to get any privacy unless you book a private room. For me this was not an issue but it may be something to consider when booking.
