Location was very good and transport from interlaken ost is east .
Bathrooms were very clean .
Outside sitting arrangement is very good ..
Basic stuff was missing in kitchen area despite big hostel .. one small microwave is not sufficient.. 1 medium fridge was also ok and no freezer .. no toaster or sandwich maker .. hostel should consider providing these options to guest.
In summer at least a small pedestal Fan will help keep room cool and less humid .

The location is perfect, so pretty and the Lake Lodge restaurant directly outside the Lodge (and right on the lake front) is full of great options, it's superbly run by efficient staff and the portion sizes are great. We were in a twin room on the top (3rd floor) which was to the right of the central balcony as you look at the Lodge. It was right next to the shared loo and shower and despite being fully booked we did not have to wait once for the shower or the loo. We think most people went to the floor below. The view from the room is just beautiful! The lake and the wooden lodges surrounding it are so pretty and it's only a few steps away to take a dip.
Iseltwald is tiny and the very few restaurants take their last orders at 8pm (we went in August so peak season) and the only small grocery shop also closes early. If you arrived late and were self catering you'd be pretty stuck!
The Lodge, albeit perfectly adequate and very clean with comfy beds, nice pillows and nice quality bed linen, (plus a bath towel each) is noisy by the very nature of it being an old wooden lodge, with no carpets etc so I was VERY glad we were on the 3rd floor so people weren't walking above us as it was so creaky. The main central stairwell is very creaky and hard to walk up and especially down even remotely quietly. The bathroom locks are a metal hook and eye and many guests didn't even attempt to close them carefully/quietly and so we were awoken many, many times. The bathroom handles need adjusting to make sure the door closes and to have a quieter locking system.
The two bins in the kitchen did not have lids, and we felt this massively played a part in attracting flies to the kitchen. The flies were landing of clean plates, clean t-towels etc so something as simply as bin lids and sticky fly catchers would make the kitchen more hygenic. No-one wants to be ill when they're travelling.
