Great location. Cottage was cosy and spacious. Excellent laundry facilities. Kitchen was well-equipped.

No contact with the host during our stay. Cleanliness could have been better - cobwebs noted on windows. Welcome pack was basic - milk in the fridge would have been useful on arrival.

The Cottage is an ideal retreat for those looking for a very peaceful “off grid” break. The owner is friendly and the cottage is well equipped with what you need for a short break. situated just east of Durness, this is where you will find the local Spar store that is very well stocked and also includes a post office and an ATM , there is another local store nearby and a self service fuel station ( 24 hours). Close by is a craft village where you can visit the chocolatier for a hot chocolate and cakes/ chocolates… If you fancy food the Smoo Cave Hotel does some very good ‘pub meals’ and friendly people. A visit to Smoo Cave is a must, have a walk down and go in the caves to see the waterfall…. well worth it, also some fabulous beaches showing amazing geology in the rocks… If you have to have WiFi a good phone signal and full satellite TV then this is not the place for you, it does have a land line phone for emergencies, the WiFi is very hit and miss…. walk up the lane and you can get a 4G signal otherwise just relax….. speaking of walking, take a good pair of walking boots with you. some great opportunities to see an abundance of wildlife, from seals, to porpoises to Killer Whales ( all dependent on time of the year) a lot of different bird life from the humble Wren, to the local Herons, a regular visit from Buzzards…. Hares and Deer can be seen if lucky. At night time simply switch off the lights and take in the amazing views of the night skies and the abundance of stars, with clear views of the Milky Way.

Superb property which was spotlessly clean and well equipped. The owner greeted us on arrival and was very friendly. The location was absolutely stunning, with its own little harbour and views of the beautiful scenery all around. We are contemplating visiting again but at a different time of year. We have nothing negative to say at all.
