This hostel was genuinely one of my favourite parts of my stay in Athens. As one of the oldest surviving hostels in the city, it has a wonderful character and atmosphere that you simply don’t find in newer places. The old Athenian architecture, the lovely inner courtyard that makes the place feel almost like a little campus, and all the quirky, original details give it a very special personality. Everyone should go upstairs and see the wonderful macramé mountain-house picture among the plants!
The staff make the place even more special. Kyria Marina is an absolute character — incredibly warm, charming and helpful — and George is amazing to talk to. Everyone was friendly, smiling and genuinely helpful, and they know both the neighbourhood and Athens extremely well.
I also found the hostel very clean, thoughtfully organised and well designed. The shower facilities were particularly good. It feels like a place with history, personality and people who actually care about it.
I stayed during the very hot days of August, so air conditioning would certainly have made the rooms more comfortable. There were fans, which definitely helped, but during an Athenian heatwave you do feel the absence of A/C. That said, this was a minor drawback for me compared with everything I loved about the hostel.

It’s a hidden secluded gem. You’re right in the cosiest part of Athens away from all the noise and graffiti. George was a wonderful host, and the vibes here were friendly. Food wise you won’t have an issue here at all, and of all the hostels I’ve been to, this was by far the best one
