The room was big and comfortable, onsen in the room as well as the private one were excellent, staff was helpful and there was a free shuttle bus that picked us up from the station.
Japanese dinner was okay, there were some dishes that we didn't really like and the wagyu beef wasn't the best quality. Our room showed signs of being old but it was quite clean.

Love the Japanese breakfast and dinner at this place. We stayed for 2 nights and tried both the hot pot and BBQ for dinner, they were both delicious and plentiful. all the staff at the hotel were so kind and polite, they speak very limited English but you can tell they are trying their best to understand and reply. I love how the hotel provides daily drinks at the lobby. They ranged from different vinegar/tea drinks to water from different sources and area (yes i was able to taste the difference but to my husband they are just water lol) The hotel also offers ice pops and yogurt drinks near their public onsen, late-night ramen, and acitivites for guests during obon week.
The hotel is tucked in the wood with winding roads and a big hill, we walked from the train station to the hotel with our luggage on check in day...a big mistake. if you can arrive between 2-5pm, the hotel has complementary shuttle from the station. but if you are like me, who arrived early but without a Japanese phone number, don't walk...just uber. i didn't know uber was available in Hakone until later. if you have a Japanese phone number, call the hotel and they will arrange a driver for pick up.

The location was stunning! They had a shuttle service from the station and back which was very handy!
The garden and paths to the onsen were beautiful! And the ammenities were really nice too! The typical pajamas were soo comfy! We are trying to locate the same style to take them back home.
We also rented a Yakata for the day which the staff very kindly helped us wear correctly!
We were under the impression that our room bath was a natural water spring bath, however it was made known to us that it was just a standard bath. We had a typical low dining table in our room, but were not able to be served meals there due to hygiene reasons… not sure why to keep a dining table in that case then.
In terms of dining and our kaiseki dinner experience, I would rate is 6/10. The server who attended to us was the rare exception of Japanese hospitality… quite shrude. The food was OK, a bit too much and the traditional rice was not good at all.
If you’re staying for breakfast, know that you’ll have a typical Japanese style breaker - sushi, grilled fish etc :)
