The hotel is a rustic mountain chalet located conveniently across from Murren's train station. It offers the quickest and most scenic entry/exit point for Murren with Lauterbrunnen and the greater Jungfrau region. Murren is one of the more remote villages in the region with easy access to less traversed hikes, the Via Ferrata, and paragliding. We booked the three bedroom suite as we traveled with a multigenerational party of grandparents, parents, and grandchildren. The suite was recently renovated and the bedrooms were spacious, each with their own bathroom. Two bedrooms were on the same level as the shared communal spaces and the third was situated upstairs with it's own bathroom. One of the lower level bedrooms had it's own balcony facing a quiet residential path. There was a shared lounge, a dining area, and a kitchen. The dining area and lounge each have their own balcony so the suite has three balconies facing three directions with views of the Eiger peaks, Murren Palace a beautiful hotel across the street, and a quiet local path leading to private residences and uphill trails. The suite is located in the serviced residences section of the hotel. While it was far from the hotel restaurant, we eventually found a short cut through the maze to get there each morning for breakfast. Breakfast was a standard continental breakfast with an assortment of fresh local produce, dairy, cereals, pastries, and freshly squeezed juices. Staff at reception, room service, and the restaurant were incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. We used the pool each day and the sauna a few times but with the trails on your doorstep you'll likely be getting your laps on the mountains anyway.

Not so much of a negative but more something for visitors to be aware. There are a couple of flights of stairs to reach the hotel reception for check-in. So if you have heavy luggage, you should let the hotel know ahead of time when you expect to check-in. They will have somebody at the train station platform ready to receive your luggage and bring it directly to your room. We really appreciated this and they help take them down upon check-out too! My only personal regret is that I didn't spend more time admiring the peaks from our balcony. We'll be back and definitely book this room again.
