The location is lovely, with the rooms situated inside the vineyard - we stayed for 2 nights and found it very peaceful and quiet to sleep. We had a short but pleasant walk around the vineyard itself where we even saw some deer which was lovely. Our room was very spacious, and comfortable.
We were lucky enough to have had the communal spa to ourselves and that was a very welcome cold dip in the whirl pool after the walk.
As there is no option for an evening meal at the hotel we went to the local ‘L’atmosphere’ restaurant which was lovely! Nice vibes and good food. Highly recommend
Overall, it was quite a strange experience to be honest - with absolutely no staff around at all throughout the stay, just a very quick 5 min ‘tour’ to our bedroom and breakfast room when we initially arrived then you are left to basically look after yourself! We received very little information about the property or vineyard, and there didn’t seem to be any opportunity to arrange a wine tour or tasting, which was a real shame given that staying within a vineyard was one of the attractions for us. Everything was completely closed up, which wasn’t what we had expected. In fact, on one of the nights we appeared to be the only guests at the entire property, which made it feel a little eerie!
The spa didn’t appear to be cleaned or attended to during our stay. There were no fresh towels replenished and used dressing gowns were left in the lockers. As the bedrooms aren’t serviced during your stay either, there was no obvious way of getting fresh towels to use for the spa. It all felt a little odd and not particularly well thought through. It’s a shame we couldn’t use the pool either seeing as there didn’t seem to be any guests in the main house.
We found the breakfast very disappointing - burnt croissants, empty bread baskets by 9am, no eggs available, where most of the reviews we read say they had fresh eggs everyday?! Expect a bare minimum attempt at breakfast - on a positive note, the machine coffee was very good!
