Very convenient location.
A live band at a pub nearby played loud music during Friday evening. Though they did not play late, it was still disturbing.

The staff were first class, very friendly and helpful and caring and kind. Always trying their best especially because they appreciated that we treated them with kindness and respect.
We loved our big spacious room and we liked the lighting and paintings on the wall.
We loved the complimentary soap especially because it was the Scottish soap company and sea salt scent which is appropriate because the hotel is located by the sea.
We also loved the decorations and appearance of all the public areas of the hotel and everywhere was spotless and well polished. The housekeeping were friendly and kind and helpful.
We love the cosy Scottish bar and the food options. The reason we went was to visit our Scottish friend and it was very cosy and welcoming chatting in the comfy booth. We made sure to purchase things and nobody pressured us. I like that the women's toilet was just a single one as opposed to cubicles which are intrusive.
We loved that the meridian cafe next door was part of it and it is beautiful and there's loads more options in there.
I liked how the staff in the meridian were also in charge of the hotel and took a keen interest in the room as well as serving you in the restaurant. They also found time to chat about your stay. They kindly played many song requests and modified things on the menu when they could. I love how they carry your heavy suitcases up and down the stairs.
I don't like that there isn't a lift. All the rooms are upstairs and the stairs are grand but very steep and dangerous because they are winding so, therefore go narrow on the inside. So, if you are disabled to the point that you can't use stairs then you will be unable to stay here. I struggle with my sciatica and I witnessed other people with mild disabilities struggling including one woman who used a walker.
Our hairdryer was malfunctioning and seemed to be at risk of catching fire. I unplugged and reported it the next day. I could see where the plastic had started to melt. I had to go to bed with partially wet hair and couldn't wash my hair again because towel drying wasn't getting it dry enough. When I reported it, the lady explained they use an outside company to supply the hairdryers because theirs were being stolen. Nothing else was said after that and the hairdryer wasn't removed from the room.
Our room had a bath but the towels were medium sized and I love a big bath towel.
I found the pillows too hard and flat. I had to use three. My husband didn't mind because that's his preference. In fairness I didn't ask for an alternative because I wasn't sure if they had it available.
I don't like how loud and rowdy it can get outside on certain nights but I know that is partially outside their control. I say partially because they can request the patrons remember people upstairs are sleeping but can't force them and can't stop the loud traffic. I also know that it's expected in a location like that. I am not blaming anyone just given an honest review to help people make informed choices.

Nice hotel and staff
Expected to go next door for breakfast. I had just had surgery so not easy to walk and also it was raining heavily.
Was informed that full breakfast facilities wouldn’t be available however expected more than cereal and bread!! A disgrace for the room rate.
