Buffet is ok. Pools are fine and beach is the Caribbean

Staff are rude and unhelpful. There are better hotel options within the neighborhood, and do not book any off site trips through the hotel. As they use a third party company that basically uses other party people to make the bookings. You will end up paying way more than what it is really worth

it was a great location, beach is great, we did have a seaweed problem but the staff was on it night and day to clear it

it was beautiful and clean and the beach and pools were amazing! plenty of places to eat and get drinks, the rooms were very nice and clean, they were always on top of cleaning everything! the staff was friendly and helpful, the waiters in the buffets were excellent and the nightly shows were a lot of fun, we liked the jungle feel of the resort, it wasn’t too over done or modern, just what you’d expect in Mexico!

the food was not amazing, we were able to only make reservations at 1 place since it was all booked, it was the Mediterranean one and it was sub par, meat was tough and staff in there was not helpful at all, and the salad bar was minimal, we ended up eating at the buffets the rest of the time, family beach buffet was excellent, breakfast was good too but dinner lacked many meat choices, lots of potatoes, fruit veggies and bread, but not much main courses. and the burrito bar is only open in the evenings, always a long line and they were out of everything with 1 staff member working it, food was awful, definitely wouldn’t go there! it’s a very large property, they have shuttles but most the time we’d wait 20-30 min for one and it would be full and end up walking cuz waiting in the hot sun another 30 min didn’t seem feasible.

Great beaches

Very crucial information was not given to us at check-in including 1) the fact that you have to book covid tests well in advance, spots fill up and that the rest takes 4 hrs to result, and 2) that if you do not make reservations dinner well in advance of your stay you will end up eating at the open buffet for every meal which was pretty awful.

Excellent room. The worst staff service ever.

Staff service. They all just have bad mood. not friendly at all. There were only 3 people that provide good service: Domingo in the french restaurant and Enrique and Ruben in the italian restaurant. All other staff members are really unfriendly.

I wish it would have been adults only when that’s what we thought we paid for for our honeymoon, wish the toilets would

our room was right off the ocean with a beautiful view. the bed was very comfortable. the shuttle bus was very nice. the cats walking around were super cute.

the toilet never flushed, so it smelled like pee in our room a lot. they talk you into doing a 90 min time share thing which took almost 4 hours of our time and the woman wouldn’t take no for an answer which really irritated me. wine was not included in all inclusive??! the pool closes at 5pm! never stayed somewhere where the pool was closed so early. I booked an all inclusive ADULTS ONLY and it was not ADULTS ONlY! I paid a lot of money thinking there would be no kids anywhere and I seen kids everywhere I went. so I was a little frustrated about being false advertised when booking. the restaurants were always booked, which wasn’t fair considering what we paid for our stay. they put fruit in our room but it was all moldy!

Lack of ‘bars’ especially anything open late! Mainly restaurant style. Evening entertainment was variable and didnt start at time on the boards. Lack of communication- nothing explained on check-in, no information in the room, no information when reservations for restaurants brought in. Room needs updating- looking a bit tired for a 5* resorts. Food variable- Argentinian restaurant definitely not AL A Carte.

Overall the stay was great.

The beach was amazing, I enjoyed the wildlife walking around, and the staff was friendly.

you have to wait at least 30–45 minutes to eat at any of the restaurants. The buffet food could be better. The drinks were not good.

Terrible and wouldn’t recommend

My wife and I came to Sandos Playacar 2 years ago and we absolutely loved it. 10/10 I would not recommend after returning this time. We enjoyed our trip back in 2019 so we came back here again to spend our honeymoon. - First opportunity they had upon our arrival they tried to sell us on their hotels “program” for discounts - we had 5 nights booked here after staying at Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya. Sandos told us the restaurants were completely booked and we had to eat at the buffet every night or they could squeeze us in around 10pm a couple of the nights with no choice where to eat - our room had no hot water the first night we arrived - over 30 minutes just to check-in with the front desk - they now charge to use the hot tub/sauna $25USD/hr/pp - no more hammocks on the beach - they have removed the ping pong table from the adults only pool - kids in the adults only areas and on the beach - buffet meals are hit and miss when it comes to being waited on and trying to get drinks - they constantly have people walking around trying to sell you massages or photo opportunities - Empty apologies and promises from guest services (David) to bring my wife chocolate strawberries to make up for their mistakes which never came. - Room service was terrible, left arrival fruit in our room for days to collect fruit flies until I threw them out our front door. - Everyone both guests and staff seem to not want to be there, terrible attitudes creating a terrible vacation environment. Overall the resort has gone backwards from what it once was and I would not recommend it to anyone. Very disappointed.

Service really good, a lot to do a big hotel. The italien and the argentinien were def our favorite resturant!

the rooms really needed an update. Our door to the bathroom kept closing so we couldnt come out. When we checked in it was just like yeah, go shtraight and to the left, so we had to go aroubd and to find the room our self. The breakfast was the same every day, gets a bit boring

1☆ Service for a 5☆ Price

There were 2 people that gave excellent service during our stay.. Zayas in Spa was very professional and attentive..Esteban (Rafael) at the breakfast buffet was excellent service every day of our stay..

We have been to Sandos Pre Covid several times and during Covid September 2020 and had the best time.. Food and service were always amazing they made you feel welcome and pampered... this vacation to Sandos was the absolute worst... The guest service was horrible.. Many of the employees were very rude.. Rolled their eyes when asked to prepare a drinks at the bar by the beach connected to the food bar also the bar in the lobby. I called room service for a pot of hot coffe never arrived.. I called for clean towels never arrived.. The food selection this time was poor.. The employees this time were not attentive I felt like I was at a 1☆ hotel.. We dealt with very unpleasant attitudes the whole stay.. So not worth the money you spend to stay.. So many felt the same way, elite guests as well... SANDOS WHAT HAPPENED YOU USE TO BE OUR FAVORITE.. WE BROUGHT SEVERAL 1ST TIMERS AND THEY WERE NOT IMPRESSED.. THEY HAD A DISAPPOINTING TIME... WHAT A LET DOWN...

I have stayed with sandos playacar many times and was a bit dissatisfied with the foods this stay.

No hot water Took about 15 minutes for the toilet to refill after use. Chicken was undercooked at the buffet . Check in wasn't exceptional...

The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Not that much entertainment..they have one show per night beginning at 9:30PM until little bit over 10PM. Before and after that there is really nothing to do. A little cocktail music before dinner or a little dancing music after the show will make a lot of difference.

I am a little dissapointed

I loved that the adults only is near the beach, the pool is nice, the beach is ok!

Front desk employees are not very friendly, they are bored , and they are not very helpful ! They extra charge for the taxi like double the real price , plus they are asking different price for excursions or shuttle to the airport! For example, I asked one girl from “seek and go” how much is the shuttle for the airport she told me 50$ , next day when I went to book another colegue asked me 75$, same for excursion while I was at the beach one girl from excursion department asked me 109$ when I went in the main lobby to book it , they asked me 140, in both cases I confronted them with the prices I got before and they eventually gaved me the smaller price, but I feel like they are not really honest they look at the person and decide what price to ask! This hotel needs people who know what CUSTOMARE CARE is, they really don’t know! Is the manager sleeping there? They should be friendly , nobody smiles they are all tired and bored! I am not sure if I am going to recomand this! The property could be good if the staff would care more! The restaurants were not good, only in the buffet you could find something to eat , but the food was always the same! Always !

The place and grounds are beautiful but the food was very bad and the room is outdated.

Beautiful beach and the grounds are lovely.

Food was mediocre to terrible. Shuttle takes too long. Place was understaffed and everything takes much longer than it should.

“Adults only”?? Not true!!!

The location

The hotel says “ADULTS ONLY” but its NOT true. There are designated “areas” for adults but the place looks like Disneyland. I think lots of couples make reservations at this hotel expecting “adults only” and its a big disappointment when you get there and see kids running and screaming at the restaurants. Very disappointed because its a fake advertisement. Drinks are horrible, alcohol very limited. Guest room services takes forever. Good luck!

Nothing special/cheap 3-4 Stars services

Location ok, big space, eco and the price under 200$usd per room are cheap comparing with 5 stars resorts.

Good

Mini bar refilled promptly. Gym excellent with instructors mario and alex doing great spinning classes. Stephanie in events also realky nice helping with bike rental. Friendly staff everywhere. Excellent a la carte adult restaurants. Italian and french especially good.

Stain on robe on arm in room. Drinks fountain ran out of soda in chaiya and when reported not refilled. Red ants on beach and aggressive birds taking food from guests (not me). Got food poisoning from buffet at festival and was ill for a day.
