Alfredo, Jorge and Manuel at the front desk were exceptional. Check in was smooth. Our room was clean and comfortable. The grounds were well kept and maintained. The property was neat, lots of wildlife! The pool, beach and bars were great. We took advantage of the spa where we had wonderful massages. I think they had the best food options of any all inclusive we’ve been to. Overall we had a great experience.
There are a few things that would have made this a 10/10 for us though. We would have loved a hot tub. It looks like there is one in the middle of the pool but it’s just a jetted pool. When the sun starts going down at night, it would’ve been lovely to sit in a warm, hot tub for a while. Also, there was a lot of entertainment during the day, but we didn’t feel like there was enough at night. They have a show near the lobby, but I wish they would’ve had something else, maybe poolside? The only other thing, you can’t make dinner reservations until you get there. When we got there, there were no reservations available. So we were limited to three restaurants. Who did not have the option to try the Italian the Mediterranean. So that was a bummer.

Lit King site hyper confortable

Loved the jungle aspect, it made things feel like there was a distance when the reality everything was close by. The staff were great and friendly and wanted to help even when things went wrong. The resort was incredibly clean.
The sports bar, very uninviting. It was too hot and lacking atmosphere.

The beach
I was told about a free massage think it was for my birthday which we told the check in team about. By the time I realized it was for a timeshare member club meeting to get the massage.

I liked the entry foyer, our room was decent it was a “remodeled” room. I liked the wildlife around the resort. The massage was really nice. Frank was really friendly, Maria gave the presentation, she was friendly as well.
Restaurants were not open on certain nights only four restaurants to choose from, which required reservations which was almost impossible to do. The seaweed in the beach was so gross. Upon check in the staff bombarded us to listen to a timeshare presentation. All this before we even got to the room. Air conditioning was not working properly. Ticket placed but still not better. The food choices in the buffet could have been way better. We went off the resort to get better food. Entertainment was not good. We would find ourselves turning in early. No disco.

We loved the pool, beach with lots of seating and umbrellas, the staff was always friendly . The pool bar was one of our favorite spots. we loved the jungle paths with all of the wildlife, very well maintained . The fire show on the beach was amazing! The buffet was always very good, we tried 4 of the restaurants, the Japanese was our favorite.
We would have liked the entertainment to start a little earlier

We came for a family vacation and did just dad.
We enjoyed the ammenuities, the kids club was great for our 4 year old son to join, they even helped him with being more comfortable in the deep pool (with floaties and under supervision).
The "jungle" gardens and animals in these made for great entertainment ofr our son and a nice way of wandering from the pool to the main restaurant.
The food was good and we stuck to the main buffet for dinner instead of booking A la carte dinners as the offering was quite similar and more flexible when trying to feed young kids. Offerings ranged from typical mexican dishes to suchi, pasta, seafood and freshly grilled meats and fish.
The drinks were tasty, normal bottom shelf cocktails, freshly made on the spot. A premium package is available as an upgrade, but we weren't drinking that much to make it worth while.
There's a bit of pool-side lounger hogging by people claiming them in the morning and then disappearing with said loungers remaining empty for long periods. Normal thing to expect, more an issue of other guests rather than the hotel.
Not sure why I took notice to it, but their pizza dough was a bit on the heavy side, either needed more yeast, longer proving or something else. It's not bad, just somehow I feel it could be made thinner or lighter.

Food was outstanding in the buffets, animation and staff at the hotel were friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our stay at Iberostar Quetzal and hope to come back in the future.
We stayed initially in a upgraded room with seaview which we loved, then we got back to our original booked room because we were not able to extend. This room was obviously not as good but we also liked it, the only bad thing of this room was the lack of sockets next to the bed and in general in the bedroom - which if you think it about positively, helps you to disconnect before sleeping - so not a big deal for us.

- dining options (buffet, restaurants, variety) are absolutely amazing
- the complete jungle style of the hotel with animals (monkeys, peacocks, flamingos, iguanas)
- activities around the pool (games, music, dance, aquafit, foam party)
- drinking water is provided through wall fountain
- high qaulity furnitures in the common rooms (restaurants, bars, lobby)
- staff at reception could be more friendly and polite
- rooms can be dark because of thick trees

Landscaping.
Very old and dirty resort, with dirty rooms, extremely rude staff. Food is beyond bad and is recycled from multiple days. My whole family got food poisoning here.

Wonderful beach, very good buffet and many drink options. Beautiful jungle with animals inside the property.
Some staff members were inconvenient and pushing with offering vip memberships which we were not interested at.

Great location, hotel with a lot of green areas and animals around. Leaves the guest feeling a bit like immerged in nature. Good food, great staff, good beach.

The hotel was beautifully laid out and decorated. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family! I loved the jungle feel and the animals on the grounds. The restaurants and buffets were outstanding!
Not enough electric outlets in the rooms.

not many restaurant options…. we had to go to Buffet 3 nights which was a mediocre experience.

Great time at this beautiful resort. Reserve the restaurants early. Buffet was also great. Amazing staff. Pool bar was fun. Wife loved the shows at night. Lots of amazing animals wondering around. Made eight dives. Dive staff was top notch.
Purely a diving issue. There is no pier so getting in and out of the dive boat can be treacherous depending on the sea state. Might be a law or a result of shifting sand. Very nice diving though. Make sure you sign up for the cenote (cavern) dive

close to the beach, fantastic staff, clean!!
some of the stone walkways need redone... they are hard to walk on at night in the dark without falling down. should be more availability for the restaurants - each of those only had 15-20 tables at most. if you don't book as soon as you get to the resort, you're out of luck.

The property is pretty. More family oriented. Well suited for families .
Did not like the hours of the buffet, or that we were given wine at dinner and then after the fact were told it was extra. Then they took the bottle from the table and glasses we had unfinished, and We were told they would remove from charge to our room, but when we were checking out WERE CHARGED FOR IT. And we heard the manager of that buffet (quetzal side) say that he remembered us and for them to charge us! (He didn’t know he was on speaker). Very unprofessional

Great location, nice beach, some of the staff made a real effort, great choice and quality of food. The outside setting is stunning, well maintained garden, lots of little waterfalls and you can spot flamingos, turtles, the occasional monkey, peacocks, etc
I contamplated a lot about leaving this review as I know a lot of hard work goes into building the reputation of places like these. But on the other hand, people that choose to spend their money here also work hard for it, so here it goes:
I arrived at the hotel around 9.30pm after a long journey, nobody to greet me or help with the luggage, which I carried to reception, where they took my passport and showed me to a seat. So I carried my luggage to the shown seat, where a gentleman arrives, bringing my passport and asking to see the credit card with which the payment had been already made on booking.com. (It is an all inclusive establishment, no credit holds for extras were needed, he just wanted to make sure I did have the above mentioned card in my property). I showed it to him and, because in all my many journeys around the world this request was never made by any other resort or hotel, I asked him what would have happened if I didn't actually have that particular card on me. Answer: 'I wouldn't have given you the key to the room'. (Room already paid for in full, in advance)
I let each of you be the judge of the request and the reply...
The gentleman in question than tried to present me with the resort map, his explanation finished before starting with: 'but this is a lot of information, you are probably tired.' While trying to get hold of a bell boy to help with luggage and show me to my room, he kindly advised me to go eat (leaving my luggage containg documents and valuables unattended) as the restaurant is closing at 10pm and the other restaurant would not open until 11pm. Also, no room service at all at this resort 'due to Covid'. And also 'due to Covid' if you want water in the room there are two empty bottles provided which you are welcome to fill up yourself anytime from the fountain outside on the corridor. True, in my case this was just ouside my room.

The resort is absolutely stunning, with lush foliage and adorable animals (peacocks, coatis, agoutis, howler monkeys, turtles...) everywhere, and really well maintained! The howler monkeys would come hang out right next to me on my balcony every afternoon, which was the highlight of my trip! The staff couldn't be any nicer; always extremely kind and ready to assist. Entertainment was also a lot of fun and my friend and I particularly enjoyed the musical night, where they enacted scenes from different musicals (Moulin Rouge, Chicago...). I also really appreciated that they avoid plastics at the resort. The wifi was lightning fast and available everywhere, including the beach!
The food was often quite bland; some people seemed to enjoy it, but my friend and I prefer spicy, flavorful dishes and were quite underwhelmed with most meals. Aside from Mexican night (which probably had the best options available), the desserts were the biggest disappointment: they kept recycling the same few (and lame) desserts over and over. They clearly skimp out on ingredients, and the cakes were often super dry (e.g. have you ever had baklava with no honey?). The cocktails were not great, either. I'm used to much better food and drinks from places with comparable ratings and prices. The rates for massages were exorbitant (>$150 for a 50-min massage).

Super helpful staffs especially Nathan in the front desk. A lots wild animals in the surrounding. Food quality for the special occasion. Everywhere is Super clean once you enter the property.
The facilities were worn out for a five start resort.

There was a separate pool that had a little swim up bar which was nice. The shows in the evening were fun. All the bar staff throughout the resort were great!
Mostly everything. We came for my friend's 30th birthday, which was noted in the reservation. There was a group of 7 of us. In the three nights and four days we were there we didn't have a single sit down, full service meal. Everything single meal was buffet style even though they advertise all these restaurant options, which we had planned to purchase bottles of wine every night (in addition to the all inclusive). Issues with the room, broken lamp (dangling off the wall), broken fan, AC didn't work. We had a room for 3 adults, there were two full beds and a third twin size bed that looked like a couch. I called to ask if they could make it up, and they just threw a small sheet on top, no pillow, no duvet, nothing. It was really hard to get chairs by the pool because they allow people to just leave a hotel towel on a chair all day to save it and just never return. Got an incredibly overpriced massage at the Spa and was then rushed out afterwards and couldn't use those amenities. No one at concierge could give us any info on Covid testing, just lied and said the only place was at the resort. We ended up getting tested at the airport for cheaper.

Loved the Beach, jungle & service. The staff was amazing. The rooms were very dated, not great. Food was good, better than expected. The whole hotel needs to be updated but the staff is amazing.
