Sky Hotel, Kota Kinabalu
After researching accommodation in Kota Kinabalu, I came across this hotel. We were travelling around Sabah for 26 days and needed a comfortable base with a pool and breakfast included.
We stayed here for 4 nights on arrival, returned for 1 night mid-trip, and finished with another 2 nights before flying home. It worked perfectly as a base throughout our journey.
The location is very convenient — close to the airport and within easy reach of the waterfront, making it simple to get around.
The hotel mainly caters to Malaysian guests, which we really appreciated as we weren’t looking for a typical Western tourist spot. It gave the stay a more local, authentic feel.
Pricing was very good for what you get. Rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful.
Breakfast exceeded expectations with a good variety each morning, and the rooftop pool was a highlight — offering great views over the city and towards the airport, especially at sunset.
Overall, it was exactly what we needed: a comfortable, well-located, good-value hotel that worked perfectly as a base while travelling around Sabah.
Didn’t like the way they charged us for an extra blanket, thought this should have been complimentary.
Had to complain about a dirty sink, towel and hairs on the toilet in our 3rd return.

Room is clean and spacious. Got a bed room and a living room for a decent price. Good TV, we spent some of out time sitting on the sofa and watch Netflix

Room were spacious. But became worst stay as need to sleep at the living room due to aircon issue.
The rooms were spacious. However, our stay was disappointing because of several issues.
The air conditioning in 2 of our rooms was not working properly and was leaking. We informed the staff several times before someone came to check. We requested to change rooms, but were told the hotel was fully booked and that we could change the next day. Unfortunately, no one followed up or updated us about the room change, and the worst thing was we need to sleep in the living room due to aircon issue!
We booked 2 Premier Suites for our family, but basic amenities like towels and toothbrushes were not provided completely. When we requested extra towels, we were asked to pay RM10 per towel, even though the rooms were not fully stocked in the first place.
Overall, we were disappointed with the service. Our group of 6 families will not be booking this hotel again, and we do not recommend it.
