I loved the location, I have stayed here twice before, pre covid. It is beautiful. The food served is also great, I had pancakes for breakfast, and the fruit platter, both delicious. I also had the dahl for dinner a few times, this was delicious.
The staff were lovely and very helpful.
I had an issue with my room, and asked to move straight away, but they weren't able to move me until my last evening. I explained that there was a monitor lizard living in the ceiling above my bathroom, there was a rotten area of wood and it's feet could often be seen hanging down. There was also quite a lot of leaf debris and other insect debris and gecko life in the bathroom. I got used to sharing my room with the wildlife in the end, but it wouldn't be for everybody, so I feel they need to make the repairs to this ceiling to make the bathroom a pleasant room to use.
When I was moved, the bedlinen wasn't clean, a pillow had obviously been used as it had greasy marks on it, at this point I couldn't be bothered to report it back to them. The coffee table in my room hadn't been cleaned and has drinks marks all over it. The bench seating cushions were old, not very clean and twisted and just needed washing and putting on properly. I straightened them up a bit myself! I think the hotel has obviously been hard hit by the economic situation in Sri Lanka, but these little things wouldn't cost much to fix, and would make a big difference. Overall the place is lovely, and I don't like to leave a bad review, but I feel the cleaner was getting a bit careless. All of the staff I met were lovely though.
