An exceptional place that we can wholeheartedly recommend, especially for families. The huge estate, with its fascinating history, is truly something special and gives you the feeling of staying in your own private world.
The food was outstanding – fresh, beautifully prepared and of exceptional quality. The large, beautiful and spotlessly clean swimming pool was, of course, a huge highlight for our children.
A special mention goes to the housekeeper Mr. Suranga, who was incredibly caring, attentive and helpful, while always being discreet and never intrusive. We felt genuinely well looked after throughout our stay.
The location is simply wonderful: romantic and peaceful, far enough away from any noise, yet the beach is still within easy walking distance. A perfect combination.
For us, this place was a true oasis of peace and an absolute dream for a family holiday with children. We would come back anytime!

Beautiful classic villa, spacious garden and pool. Very friendly caretaker. Galle is easy reachable with the tuk tuk.

We had a fantastic stay at Thalpe Walawwa Heritage Villa and would highly recommend it. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the pool is superb – very peaceful and well maintained. The villa itself is a stunning historic building and our room was spacious and full of character. It really felt like staying in a special place rather than a standard hotel.
Galle can be reached easily by tuk tuk. The beach is a 15 minute walk away, where you can find a number of restaurants. There is no restaurant on site but the staff can cook for you if given notice. The breakfasts are amazing.
Overall, a lovely, relaxing place to stay with excellent staff and facilities.
