Magical place

Spectacular location with views out across the Bay. Karen was an absolute superhero and went above and beyond to look after us and make us welcome. Room was simple but comfortable, and everything was spotless.

peaceful and cleaning place in the middle of the jungle

We've been there for two days, the place is so calming and cleaning. we like it very much.

The perfect jungle, ocean-view getaway from it all!

The family who run the hotel were so friendly, hospitable and generous and were very responsive, the location was perfect with the most beautiful view, the breakfasts were delicious and good value for money, and the whole atmosphere of the place was so lovely and relaxing

Exceptional

Great bungalow on the hill, with incredible view over the jungle and Drake bay. Very helpful owners help organising the daily tours, breakfast is available. 5-10 minutes walk to the beach and the town, depending if down or up the hill :)

Exceptional

The little cottage was sweet and surrounded by wonderful nature. The host Yami is very friendly and there was fruit for welcome and daily juices. Highly recommended if you want nature, but still close to town. You should stay at least 3 nights to get to appreciate the area and cottage.

Consider that the path is steep up the hill - you need to be good on foot to go down by foot. But it is well secured and not too difficult.

We loved the location & the hotel was a perfect place to enjoy the beautiful beach & rainforest!

Location was amazing! The owners were really nice and provided us a very nice breakfast and a treat when we arrived which we appreciated. They also left fresh flowers on the bed and made swans with the towels which was a very nice touch. Loved the terrace and the view from there!!

The room was very clean but I would recommend they check the water in the shower as it wasn't hot. Bed was comfortable but pillows flat.

Nicest hosts imaginable, charming rooms, great views, wonderful food.

Casa Horizontes exceeds expectations on every level. Location is insane! They will cook meals for you and serve on your own picnic table overlooking the bay. Pedro drove to town in the dark to find my cell phone!!

Close to the beach with great views from the property and a thoughtful accommodating host.

The hotel was located walking distance from the beach. Our host, Yami, had us picked up from the boat when we arrived and brought us to our room. We had a room with a private bathroom and it was very clean and comfortable:-) There were nice touches in the room including fresh flowers, water, & juice. We ate a delicious breakfast which was served on an open patio with a lovely view of the beach! Yami accommodated us with luggage storage and transported us back to the beach to catch our boat when we departed. It was perfect for us.

Awesome

The location of this apartment is so special. High in the trees, secluded from other guests and so spacious. The hospitality and care that Yami and Pedro offer is exceptional and personal . We enjoyed being able to prepare our own simple meals in the kitchen. So restful to take time away, days on the beach and then simple comfort to come home to A sweaty walk uphill but worth it!! Not for those who have ambulatory issues, we are in our 70s and managed the climb back up the hill once a day. Highly recommended.

Supernice!

The location has a fantastic view over Drake bay. The staff is super nice and helpful.

To get to the beautiful location, you have to walk up a hill. Which is fine but you need to think ahead in terms of having dinner/bringing your swimsuit etc to avoid that you have to go up and down a few times a day (which would be to much).

One week stay in Drake Bay

We stay at Casa Horizontes and really enjoyed our days. The family was extremely nice and helpful. We were in the casa bosque room. The room was really clean and had everything needed (small kitchen to cook, amazing balcony view on the jungle and beach). It was amazing. The wifi was really good quality to work there. The place is at 4min walk to the beach.

amazing !!!!

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Horizontes . The house is on top of the hill surrounded by lush garden with view of ocean. From the terrace we saw abundance of wildlife, toucans, monkeys, butterflies, hummingbirds….. It was truly magic experience and highlight of our trip . Our host was excellent and breakfast …… absolutely delicious:) Hope to come back soon :)

This is the place to stay in Drake Bay!

I can't say enough about how wonderful Casa Horizontes was. We stayed in the cabin by the main building for three nights and loved everything about it. I would request that cabin if you can since it has an amazing ocean view from the large porch, a great kitchen, and lots of room for families. Be aware that the other cabin does not have a view and is down from the main building but is still quite nice. Rooms in the main building share a porch with an amazing view and the ones we saw were smaller and did not have their own kitchen. The hosts were so incredible and helpful we just loved staying at their home and enjoying their company. The cabin was surrounded by jungle and we spent a lot of time watching toucans, parrots, monkeys, and iguanas while we were there. You can open up the window and feel like you are in a treehouse. It was so quiet and peaceful just listening to the animals!! Although you are out of town a little ways you can easy walk to restaurants (5-10 min walk) and beaches. We really enjoyed walking down to Cocolito beach along a beautiful path along the coast. The hosts were kind enough to make reservations for activities and for the ferry.

Make sure to bring lots of cash with you to Bahia Drake. You can pay with a credit card but places charge you an extra 15-25% to use it. We didn't bring enough and ran out. You will need it to pay for your ferry (~$11-20 per person each way) , you room at Casa Horizontes and also tours and food. The optional breakfast on site was a bit expensive ($10) but was REALLY good so I can't complain too much. Be aware that walking to and from the property and around town requires some strenuous climbing up and down hills.

Great hosts and great view!

Yami and pedro are very nice hosts. They picked us up and were very helpful with arranging tours and giving us tips about drake bay. The view from the property is amazing. Simple but good value for money. Would recommend.

Quaint and beautiful family run jungle getaway

The family who run this space are amazingly friendly, warm and accommodating. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into the space, giving a genuine and quality feel. They are very helpful in booking tours and recommendations for how to best enjoy your time in Drake. I love that the space is set a bit outside of town. Close enough to walk to all of the restaurants and the beach, also easy access to the Drake Bay Trail. But still felt private and remote tucked away in the trees with epic views of the bay.

Perfect Stay in Paradise

This place is a gem. Awakened every morning to fresh coffee, warm, welcoming hosts, surrounded by the music of nature. The beautiful natural wood inn was lovingly constructed by Pedro. Yami and Pedro met my every request. They were easily very accessible, yet respected our privacy. Our room was immaculate and Yami even kindly did my laundry! You can also easily book directly.

Hospitable, beautiful casita, fantastic location!

The casita is absolutely adorable. It was perfect for our stay. There is a limited kitchen (with a fridge/ freezer and hot plate), though we did not use it during our stay. The beds were comfortable and even though there is no AC, there are high powered fans in each of the sleeping quarters that keep it cool enough to comfortably sleep. The shower is basic, with no hot water - just cool, and cold- but honestly, after a hot/ humid day out and about a cool shower feels great. The host is incredibly accommodating, very kind and responsive via WhatsApp. The location is fantastic! Whenever we told our guides where we were staying they commented on the fantastic location - we agree!!! Get a guide through the jungle with Carlos at Top Trails Corcovado (make sure you’re a confident hiker) - they’ll pick you up right down the street. The main beach is a 5 minute walk. If you’re feeling adventurous either walk both ways to San Josecito beach (6 hrs total) or take a boat taxi ride one way/ both ways for $10/ pp each way. Dive/ snorkel with Costa Rica Adventure Divers. Have happy hour drinks at Robertos Marisquería. Eat the BEST fresh fish at La Reina Del Mar. Stay at Casa Horizontes and have the best stay for the best deal in Corcovado!! 👍🏽👍🏽

We had dietary limitations (GF) so our breakfast was limited to huevos revueltos, homemade tortilla and fresh fruit. This was great the first day or two, but we quickly got a little tired of this. I would suggest just skipping the breakfast and go to the supermercado to get some basic essentials. It’s a close walk and you can save some money.
