Breakfast had a lot of options and was very good. Our room was great. We had a beautiful view and windows on 2 sides.
The restaurant staff were amazing. We told them it was our anniversary and they made up our dinner table with nice decorations and even gave us a gift. It was very nice.
We had dinner there and it was delicious!
The spa was a bit disappointing. The description said there were thermal baths, but we didn't feel like there were. And no hot tub was also disappointing.

Die Zimmer sind durch Teppiche und stoffbespannte Wände extrem ruhig und außerordendlich geräumig, was auch für das Badezimmer gilt. Es gibt im Standard-Doppelzimmer (Lahnblick) einen separaten Nebenraum mit Sitzgelegenheit und Kleiderschrank. Das Frühstück war ausgesprochen gut und entspricht inkl. Live Cooking dem hohen Anspruch des Hotels. Auch das Ambiente im Speiseraum ist überaus angenehm und nicht überkandidelt.
Bei einem Haus dieser Klasse hätte ich eine Einweisung des Empfangspersonals gewünscht, wie das selbst in einfacheren Hotels üblich ist (Wo ist der Frühstücksraum, wo ist der Thermenbereich, wann hat die Bar geöffnet,...?). Grundsätzlich war das komplette Personal sehr freundlich und professionell, vielleicht war es auch dem sehr frühen Checkin und späterem Bezug des Zimmers geschuldet, aber grundsätzlich hätte ich mir das anders gewünscht und erwartet.
Darüber hinaus vermittelte mir der Empfang das Gefühl, dass man Parkplätze reservieren kann, wenn man nicht über Booking.com gebucht hat, da man bei mir explizit nachfragte, ob ich einen Parkplatz reserviert hätte. Das hatte ich tatsächlich per Mail über Booking.com im Hotel frühzeitig angefragt. Die Anfrage wurde aber mit der Begründung abgelehnt, dass das grundsätzlich nicht ginge. Am Ende waren sämtliche Parkplätze ausgebucht und ich musste anderweitig ausweichen. Das hinterlässt den Eindruck Gast zweiter Klasse zu sein.
Es gibt deutlich günstigere Alternativen der Übernachtung in Bad Ems, durchaus auch mit historischem und besonderem Ambiente. Nur für ein geräumiges und edles Hotelzimmer ist meines Erachtens der Übernachtungspreis deutlich zu hoch. Wenn man den hauseigenen Thermenbereich nutzen möchte und einem das sehr gute Frühstück wichtig ist, dann könnte es aber eine Alternative sein in diesem geschichtsträchtigen Haus zu nächtigen.

Apparently the hotel used a chemical spray which made me feel sick
Staff said it was normal in all hotels
We felt we were difficult asking to change rooms
We had to have no outdoor terrace because there was no other room
