The hotel is very impressive with long driveway leading to the spectacular historic building. The bedrooms all vary in size and comfort. We had a Heritage Junior Suite.
It was not made clear to me that the Avenue Restaurant was closed Monday and Tuesday. A flashing censor light above our bed had to be reported and was immediately fixed

Choice with dinner menu could be much better - deserts very poor.

The house, grounds and public rooms were lovely.
Our booking.com upgrade didn’t really apply, the basic rooms were very basic. We paid extra for an upgrade and our room was really lovely and we were happy.

The hotel main building is beautiful. The gardens were delightful although spoilt by noisy fellow guests. They also spoilt dinner. The bar was particularly good and the staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly.
We had booked a heritage suite that in the photos was a period room in the main house with a view of the garden. Instead we got a modern room in the attic as far as could be from the main building and with a view of the bins. It is not what we had paid for and ruined our visit.
