Such a cool historic old place

If you have wondered how it would be to stay in a classic Soviet hotel in perhaps the most famous spa town in the whole CCCP, then here's your chance! Located in a huge garden with exotic pines and spread around several massive buildings the Legends Tskaltubo Spa is a really unique hotel. Long corridors with old Hungarian point parquet and tall ceilings, a huge dining hall for enjoying your somewhat bland breakfast (fresh bread anybody?!) and a possibility to sneak up to take a look at an old theatre hall only half renovated do lend some character to the place. Front desk staff were helpful too!
Although I know that the place is renovated with a large sum of money, it feels like no upkeep has been done since. Paint is flaking on the walls, there was a water cooker in the room but we found no tea or coffee but rotten apples instead, and the double bed consisted of two single beds put together with no bedding mattress to cover the gap. Although I had read all this on other people's reviews I was still somewhat taken back as it's really not something you would expect from a place that costs 200+ GEL. Perhaps it's part of the Soviet experience?
There's an outdoors pool but the spa -if there is one- was closed (until 2024 or so, check the small print).

No tengo ninguna queja.

Great place with so much history

I really enjoyed this hotel. It's a throwback to a previous era. I loved the retro furniture, the grand architecture, the expansive grounds around the hotel. Lots of the guests are Georgian. It strikes me as the kind of place where you should stay to experience Tskaltubo.
I think some other reviews have expected a 5 star experience - it's not and doesn't claim to be. Enjoy it for what it is. Similarly, the food is nice enough, not amazing, but I viewed it as part of the overall experience.
The pool area is really nice, and while it was popular it never felt busy.
While the buildings collectively are quite large, I don't think all are available, so the number of people makes it feel like a fairly small hotel, just in massive grounds.
Staff at reception were friendly and helpful.
Some smaller issues. Bed could have been a bit more comfortable. Kettle was broken (but they found another one no issue). Bedside lamp didn't have a lightbulb.

The hotel is really unique. The grounds are huge and very fun to explore. The history of the hotel is very interesting to discover. The pool was great. Reasonably priced.
The name of the hotel says 'spa' and there is no spa! The restaurant is more of a food hall with lots of local people, which we liked, but the dinner price was very high and not worth the money.

The negative reviews for this place are unfair. We almost didn’t come and I’m so glad we did because they have truly achieved something special. The atmosphere is fantastic, staff were friendly and rooms spacious and comfortable. The lobby bar very pleasant and if you’re a history buff this is a truly unique place.
The bedding is admittedly pretty awful. And the cleaning standards need to be higher. Breakfast quality was dismal.

The history of this place is simply wonderful. Ask at the desk to see the concert hall and Stalin’s room.

Fab location to explore the town. Super interesting looking around the abandoned parts of this hotel and the baths. Reception was super helpful with everything and able to arrange a transfer to the airport very early in the morning. Super clean and overall a great experience.
Slightly dated but to be expected in an old Soviet building

The accommodation was very large and interesting history. the room was very spacious and clean. the pool was very clean with a swim up bar. the breakfasts and dinners were excellent value with delicious home style cooking. Bath house number 6 is a 5 minute walk from the accommodation. the staff were very helpful.
the bed was very hard.

Great location.
The only surviving sanatorium in Tskaltubo from 1950
Breakfasts weren't so good.
Too expensive for such level of service

It's a classic and historic hotel, so it was cool staying in a place that combines modern touches with it's USSR past. The hotel staff were helpful and got us taxis and gave us advice about the town.
Perhaps it was the cold weather, but it would have been nice if they had cleared some of the paths. It was not fun to march around snow to get to the front of the hotel.

Absolutely wonderful experience that inspired much nostalgia - one should certainly spend a night here if they are interested in retrospective/historic (such as Soviet) remnants. The resort is a renovated sanatorium previously dedicated to the military. There is also a concert hall, museum, and Stalin’s old room on site - which you can request to visit as a guest.

Very helpful young woman on reception when we booked in who went out of her way to give us information.
The building is stunning and the treatments we had were excellent.
It was all great - would have liked to have ground coffee with our meals not instant but we had tea instead and that was fine.

A comfortable room in a beautiful hotel on a large and interesting property. Enjoyable (but crowded) pool, nice balcony bar, fun to explore. Close to bathhouse #6.
Far (walking) from the center of town and restaurants etc.

The staff was nice and explained things nicely. It is a cool location with a pool. It is nice to have been here and see how it is now and how it was before renovations, so it's an interesting spot
The beds were quite hard and the price a bit high

If you love vintage, this is your place! I came to explore the old sanatoria and this is the perfect place to start. I love how they combine a comfortable clean hotel with a wide area of older buildings ready to explore. A once in a lifetime experience!
