An amazing cave apartment in the middle of the Sassi in Matera. The hosts, Don Mario and Lorenzo his son, are amazing people. They helped us with free parking in the city and drove us to the apartment, explained about the city. They don't have this consistent high rating in Booking.com without a reason! The location could not be better and the apartment could not be more authentic. We went to a cavehome museum and said "this is just like ours!" Really recommend this place for an authentic and special stay!

We had a wonderful and truly memorable stay in Matera! The apartment was an authentic cave dwelling, full of character and history, and the location was absolutely perfect for exploring the beautiful Sassi on foot.
What made our experience even more special was our host, Lorenzo. He is a truly wonderful person, a local schoolteacher who was born and raised in Matera. His father, Mario, kindly met us at the parking area and drove us to the apartment, which was such a thoughtful gesture.
Lorenzo gave us excellent recommendations for exploring the city and finding good restaurants. Both he and his father were incredibly kind, welcoming, and cultured people. It was a pleasure to meet such a lovely family and experience their genuine hospitality.
We couldn’t have asked for a more authentic and memorable experience in Matera. Highly recommended!

Superb location and beautiful, well equipped apartment with original furniture, and a great feel. Host was very helpful, told us about Matera and his family history and provided useful recommendations!! A true pleasure !!

Beautiful, authentic apartment in excellent location. Free parking spot and free transport from there to the apartment by Lorenzo’s father was special.
