A true home from home with so much thought put into making the guest the number one priority. Comfortable in every sense from the rooms, beds, public areas, and warmth of hospitality in abundance from owner Kate. Princely breakfast cooked to order with only the finest of ingredients used and beautifully presented. We opted for Kate to cook us an evening meal with both the beef stew and chicken casserole delighting the palate! So many little touches, too many to mention. Super dog friendly and the location ideal for exploring the lakes with Kate also recommending great itineraries for us on both days. We will return for sure. After this three night experience we simply would not consider any other guest house in the area other than Maple Bank. Simply superb!

there is nothing I didn't like

The room was pleasant enough and quiet albeit we had to climb four flights of stairs to get there and there was only one low chair to sit in. Breakfast was fine - better when cooked by Kate we felt - the chef at the weekend not quite so good.

Did not like having to climb four flights of stairs - one of us with a dodgy knee and one with sciatica. Had been impossible to communicate via email, prior to arrival. We had been asked a lot of questions to which we could not respond as emails either via booking .com or direct via Maple Banks's own email just would not go through. Kate sends out a lot of information which was more overwhelming than helpful. I did manage to speak with her via phone the day before we arrived and that was helpful but emails should have worked and been enough. From all the talk about dogs being more than welcome, we had been pretty terrified that the place would be full of howling mutts - it wasn't but the focus on making dogs so very welcome came almost at the expense of making humans feel the same. We were also quite shocked by the long list of things we needed to do - switch on/switch off, open/close and the method of choosing breakfast. The tick list was left in the room which meant you had to climb all those stairs to get there and then one of us had to go back down and then up again - suggestion - leave the list in the entrance hall and people can fill it in and leave it there as they return from their days out.
