The property was exceptional. The staff were very attentive.
Most homes in Japan do not have a dryer, but if this home did, with would rank as an 11 with me! It’s the only thing that is missing.

The Machiya was incredibly clean and welcoming! Everything was as described if not better. The host was also very kind and forthcoming by checking on us if everything was okay (even turned on the heating which was a nice touch!). It's somewhat remote but that makes it a great retreat. We will definitely book again when we are in Kyoto!
The highlight was the wonderful bath!

The house is absolutely beautiful, there was comfortable seating and lovely little touches to help with the visit. The bath was exceptional and the area was so quiet that it was easy to relax after a long day sightseeing.
The location was a little isolated but this helped with the quietness. Also very narrow road so hard to get taxi through.
