About this bed and breakfast
This beach bungalow is the perfect location for your stay. Within a quiet neighborhood to get away from the hustle of downtown Oceanside. This guesthouse is a 1 bed/1 bath w/ room to sleep 4. Have an amazing time at the beach just 5 min away. Come back have a bbq and enjoy a night by the fire. South Oceanside is a great spot to enjoy some amazing restaurants and coffee shops. Our favorite is revolution roasters. Cross the lagoon and have an amazing cocktail at Jeune et Jolie. Have a bite at Campfire. Finish the night at Witch Creek Winery for a glass of wine and some live music. Or walk to Buccaneers and enjoy breakfast on the beach, then head to the wild animal park or the San Diego zoo! This is classic coastal living at its finest. This is a very bike friendly town. For your convenience we have included 2 bikes with your stay. It’s just about 5 minute bike ride to the nearest beach, restaurants and shops of South Oceanside. 15 minutes via bike to the pier and just about 5 minutes by car. The train is available just a couple miles away to take you anywhere along the California coast. Our favorite is heading to downtown San Diego for a night in gas lamp. Stay in or head out you will not run out of places to see or things to do. The Surf Shack is the perfect hub to enjoy all the Southern California has to offer!

This place was the best stay we have had in a long time. Everything was so clean and everything looked great. We had a wonderful time staying here! I will be recommending it to others!

We've stayed at this property three different times now, we have always found it to meet our needs. We've always found it clean and peaceful. The owners are easy to communicate with and have always responded quickly and in a very hospitable manner. We enjoy staying here when we visit our family in nearby Carlsbad.

Very clean and cozy. We loved that this place had the washer/dryer. Lots of towels. Pull out bed. Our own parking stall. It was close to the beach, stores, and restaurants and equipped with what we needed in the kitchen, bathroom etc.

First of all the cupboards were very well stocked. There also was a nice supply of essentials such as TP, paper towels, foil, saran wrap, coffee filters, dish soap, laundry soap, many spices.

Such a cute place with great decor and beach vibe. It's everything I wanted in a beach vaca rental. My only complaint is the coffee pot was stored in the back of a cabinet so we didn't find it until the last day. The place was super clean and had a lot of great things available for use. I would highly recommend the Surf Shack and absolutely stay here again!

My fiancé and I departed on a months long visit to California in the fall of 2021. Our last month long stay was in Oceanside. Our hosts were super welcoming, the place was clean, nicely decorated, homey, and set up well for us to explore the area. Definitely worth a short or long term visit!

We loved our stay at this apartment. In fact we even stayed longer than initially planned since we enjoyed it so much. Everything was super clean and tidy. I really liked the decor and style of this place. Bed is very comfortable and has a brand new mattress. The outdoor area is great. Overall it was much larger than I had expected it. Communication was easy. We had one issue during our stay which the host took care of right away and fixed it. It’s a very convenient location close to beaches, supermarkets etc. in a very cute and safe neighborhood. I would highly recommend this place. Hopefully I can stay in again in the future.

Property is dated. Found up to four light bulbs that were burned out, one bulb missing. Kitchen chairs looked nice but have nuts and bolts missing or falling out of the chair section. Nuts loosening up on chair legs, this could be dangerous. Sparsely supplied, spoons both tea and table. Bed was comfortable, dishwasher and washer dryer were a real plus. No wash cloths, only two kitchen towels, no shower soap. Rusted colander, badly rusted would not use and should be disposed of. Could not find a sink stopper for the kitchen, to hand wash dishes.

This was the best home- away stay I have been to. The place had everything we needed (including 2 bikes) and AJ was super helpful on any questions I had. The esthetic of the place was amazing. If you’re staying in Oceanside, I highly recommend the surf shake!! We plan to stay here next visit 🙂

We loved our month stay in AJ’s surf shack! It was fully stocked with everything we needed to be comfortable for a month. We loved the fire pit in the backyard and taking walks around the neighborhood. We also enjoyed taking the bikes out on the ra trail.
