Wow! My 7 year old son and I absolutely LOVED our 2-night stay here, no matter how busy they were all of the staff were super friendly, welcoming and helpful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere perfect. It’s stunning during the day and evening, there were some lovely walks, the room and beds were really clean and comfortable, and I’m really glad we stayed 2 nights - I would highly recommend.

The experience at Bee Eco Guesthouse begins long before you actually arrive at the property. You have to board a boat and travel for about an hour along the river, surrounded by absolutely breathtaking scenery, before reaching the Shala River. And this is where Bryan, the boat captain, also becomes part of the experience: extremely professional, friendly and attentive, he navigates the journey with a calmness and care that make all the difference. The arrival at the Shala River is, quite simply, breathtaking. The setting is extraordinary and immediately makes you realise that you have arrived somewhere truly special.
The guesthouse is a kind of farmhouse, set within this remote and impressive landscape. It is located in a place where the logistics of supplying and running a property must surely be among the most challenging in Albania, and for that alone it deserves huge credit. You can clearly see the effort that goes into creating a great experience for guests and keeping everything running smoothly in a location with such unique challenges.
But where Bee Eco Guesthouse truly stands out is in its people.
Our Guest Manager, Giorgia, is absolutely exceptional. Friendly, efficient, professional and completely focused on the needs of her guests. Despite being very young, she clearly has the DNA of a true hotelier: she is always attentive, handles everything naturally and gives you an immediate sense of confidence. She is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the entire experience.
The rest of the staff follows exactly the same standard: extremely friendly, warm, helpful and empathetic. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, there was a genuine feeling of being welcomed. More than guests, we felt as though we had become part of a big family during our stay — and that is something rare and, for us, truly unique.
Overall, Bee Eco Guesthouse was one of the most special experiences of our trip through Albania.
We genuinely have no significant negative points to mention about the guesthouse. The only aspect that could be improved relates to the logistics before arrival. The guesthouse does provide the necessary information, and the parking they recommended worked perfectly well, but for someone unfamiliar with the area and making this journey for the first time, the whole process on arrival can feel a little confusing and chaotic. For international guests, it would be helpful to make this part of the experience even clearer and more intuitive, perhaps with a more visual, step-by-step explanation of where to leave the car, where the terminal is and how the boat transfer works. It is not really a problem with the guesthouse itself, but rather an operational aspect that could make an already special arrival much smoother.
One final note, which is not really related to the guesthouse but rather to the Shala River itself: the number of visitors arriving on day trips is quite high, particularly between 10 am and 4 pm. It is completely understandable that such a beautiful place is so popular, but the experience changes completely once the crowds thin out and you can enjoy the river and the surrounding landscape in greater tranquillity. Perhaps this is one of those places that would benefit from finding a better balance between the number of visitors and preserving the sense of nature and tranquillity that makes it so special.
