Once again Suzanne went out of her way to insure that we had a great stay. We had a very relaxing stay when we needed it most.

The host Suzanne truly made us feel like we were home. From the time we checked in until we left we felt like we had a new friend. The property was just as described. The house was packed with all of the essentials and more. The views and scenery are the property were breathtaking. The property was in close proximity to all of our extra activities we planned. Suzanne was the perfect hose and made us feel so welcome.

This property is everything that is described and MORE!! We rented rhe Cottage and Carriage house (for our daughters). It was far enough to feel they could be on their own but close enough to walk to. The wildlife we saw was spectacular. My favorite was the luna moth that landed on the cabin twice. And the hummingbird that came to the door. Suzanne is a Peach!! So sweet and helpful. She even bought a birthday cake for my daughter when I mentioned it in our booking. Our stay was exactly what we needed (hadnt been to Maine in 5 years.) This was the perfect place to come back to. Book this now!! You will not regret it!

We absolutely loved our visit to Maine and our stay at lavender by the sea! From the moment we walked in we felt like we were at our home away from home. The cottage was very well kept and clean! The overall feel was cozy and comfortable! It’s so nice that Susan left snacks for us which were great to take to the parks! The cottage is set up perfect and very roomy! Even in the winter the the views are breathtaking! I also absolutely cannot forget Gigi! What a joy having this sweet girl come visit in the mornings and explore the property with us. We highly recommend and if our travels bring us back to Maine we will be staying here again!

This cottage was just what we needed. It felt like home to my wife and I and we would have been happy just staying at the cottage the whole time. It is hard to put into words; but it was just perfect for us. It was relaxing, quiet and the views over the river were amazing. The host was great and even suprised us with an anniversary cake. The location was perfect for what we planned on doing as well...Acadia. It was a bit of a drive to get to Bar Harbor, but it was not bad at all. (45 minutes). The cottage also had a separate place for my adult kids to stay so my wife and I had our privacy. Overall, we were not disappointed and plan on visiting and staying here again every time.

I can echo all that has been said about this property. We were even treated to our own personal waterfall, after a hard rain. The location is great as everything is a short drive away. We loved the fruit and cheeses, a very nice touch, but did not consume the lovely pie, as we had our own birthday cake to eat during our short stay. Suzanne was friendly, responsive and Gigi was delightful. The reason I give it a 4 is threefold. First, Suzanne communicated with me, about the location via vrbo, but since we were on the road and I am not one to use my phone all the time, I missed the check-in directions. We arrived, after dark, and had to stop at an adjoining property to ask where this property was located as the mailbox, with the number, was poorly indicated and we missed it. I sensed the neighbor was used to this happening so I don't think we were the first to have difficulty. This is a rural location and this issue could be easily fixed. It also would have been helpful to have the front lights left on at both the cottage, and the guest quarters. Earlier communication with potential renters would have avoided our difficulty. Our second issue, and there were 6 of us, was the lack of places to put our "stuff." In the cottage, there was no cupboard space to stash our groceries as they were all full with dishes, food and household stuff (it felt like someone was living there), forcing us to leave everything on the counter. The owner has many lovely things and lots of decorative pillows, a pleasing effect when you walk in, but it left little space for our things. In the guest house over the garage, there were 4 of us, and the owner did respond, immediately, to our issues. Again, a lack of space for toiletry bags, in the bath (under the sink was full of stuff) and no place to hang wet towels. We carried towels and toiletry bags from our rooms, every time we used the bath (a problem, when you step out of shower and realize you forgot your towel, don't ask me how I know, in the bedroom). A simple shelf and some rods, in the bathroom, would remedy this issue. The owner did put hooks up for us, in the bedrooms, while there. This space too, had many, many pillows, which had to be moved into space that could have been used for our "stuff." It's a tight space for 4 adults, but doable. This is a great vrbo and, with a little tweaking, would be more guest friendly. We thank Suzanne for her lovely rental and excellent hospitality.

My husband and I stayed here for about a week and were very impressed! They ordered us an anniversary cake from a local baker which was just amazing and so thoughtful!! The house is extremely charming, clean, well furnished, and it turns out we way overpacked - we brought an Alexa, binoculars and a flashlight, but the house was already so well equipped! The furniture is both beautiful and comfortable, and the location is just secluded enough to feel off the beaten path without being scary. The house on the outside is unassuming (part of the allure for us is the weather-beaten cedar shakes looked a bit Stephen King-esque), and it sits at the top of a steep hill leading down to where the river meets the ocean at the bay. There is a well-used footpath down to the water, but the property to the side is the same property and is terraced all the way down and loaded with lavender plants. Outside there's a bench for sitting at the waterfront, kayaks, a fire pit, hammock and woods for exploring. Inside there's a tiger maple (?) table which I fell in love with, a gorgeous Morris chair, a well equipped kitchen, tons of windows for fresh air and light, and good heating for the chilly nights. It's a short drive to Castine or Ellsworth, and so many ways to get to the ocean. I have a lot of allergies and was not once triggered by anything here. We had a really wonderful week and wished it could've lasted longer. Don't hesitate to spend some time here!!!
