They Are Trying Very Hard
They Are Trying Very Hard
Like the title says, the owners are very nice and doing their best but that can't cover up all the issues. The owners live on site by the way, along with the three cottages that are for rent...one right beside you at the pool level and one behind you that walks by the pool area to access the lake. There is not really any outdoor privacy. The view from the pool area and deck is breathtaking. The steps down to the pool from the cottage are definitely not to code, but there is a railing to hang onto. The pool itself is not heated, probably fine most of the time but we had a cool week and it stayed right around 70 degrees. If you have an outdoor pool in Canada we suggest that they add a heater, even if they only heat it to 75 degrees. They also need a new BBQ, it lights a 12 inch long open flame that you cook behind to avoid having propane laced food...it is a little hard on the hands. The Wi-Fi was down the four nights we were visiting, no TV for the kids. (Not such a bad thing...) I set up a hotspot on my phone so we could use tablets and laptops but that was a bit of a pain and burned bandwidth. The owners did try a few different fixes but nothing worked and we grew tired of having them in our space. A few minor fixes and this place is easily a four star, longer term upgrades maybe more. The owners effort to improve makes it hard to leave a tough review but that is why these reviews are here, for honest feedback. One last suggestion is that they post all three properties as a group rental, if it was friends or family behind and beside you it would feel much less intrusive.

My wife and I together with two other close friends stayed at the Q Estate for four days this week and our experience was above and beyond our expectations. The two warm hosts Suzette and Lexter made us feel so comfortable and welcome, we stayed in the beautiful newly renovated cottage with access to the salt water swimming pool which was awesome.Their hospitality was 1st class with genuine, warmth and helpful service. We will definitely rebook.

A Beautiful View
A Beautiful View
We had a great time at this property. The owners are very responsive and friendly. It was my dad, brother, 3 friends and myself. The guest house slept us all comfortably. It was very cozy and functional. I found the fridge to be a bit small for 6 people, but not a big deal at all. It's a nice, thick stone house that doesn't carry much noise outside. As other reviews have noted, there are some repairs that need to be done to this property. The dock closest to the house is closed/not functional, so you have to walk quite a distance to the other side of the property. Not a big deal — good for cardio. The dock itself is so peaceful. Immediate dropoff after the rocks, so you can jump/dive off it with no problem. The lake water is so clear. A nice fire pit is provided with chairs. Would fully recommend this property and would consider rebooking.

Lovely stay
Lovely stay
Lovely stay. Owner was great.and responsive. Didn’t realize pool wasn’t heated, but it is listed. And shower is in the middle of /open to a bedroom so privacy may be an issue. Bunk bed mattress are old so better for kids. Overall we loved our stay.

Great Getaway!
Great Getaway!
The cottage worked extremely well for us and served as a great getaway. We would definitely go again. Pros: *The owners are next door and readily accessible and responsive to questions. They are also really friendly and knowledgeable of the area. I would suggest they put together an information book/binder for guests at the cottage to look look through and gain a better sense of what activities/sights are in the vicinity. *The pool is spectacular and the view cannot be beat! *The cottage was comfortable and included a window air conditioner, which cooled the entire place. Cons: *It was a farther drive from Kingston/things to do than we expected. The location is remote, so we were not comfortable driving at night. *The cottage would benefit from nicer furnishings including a more comfortable sofa (non-fabric given Covid/something that can be wiped down). I would suggest having more than one furniture option for sitting inside. *The shower is a tight squeeze and is located in the bedroom (not the bathroom), which is a bit awkward. *Although the pool is private to this particular cottage, there are other guests on the property who pass by the pool and/or sit in front of it to look out at the view/water. This made the pool and deck area a bit less private than we expected. Overall, we recommend this experience!

We had a great time at this property. The kids spent all week in the pool. The view from the deck is fantastic. We loved the screened in gazebo for sitting and reading by the pool. It’s worth noting that some work is needed on this property but the owners are new and are incredibly responsive. I have no doubt they will make fantastic improvements given a little time. They attended to a few little issues right away on our first day and went so far as to purchase a brand new tv to replace the very outdated one in the living room when we mentioned we weren’t able to hook up a device to it. They are eager to make updates and we were more than impressed! It’s also worth noting this property is one of multiple units at this site. We hadn’t understood that we wouldn’t be very isolated (although all the other guests and owners were very respectful of each unit’s space. But it is definitely a shared property. Thanks for a great time! We really enjoyed ourselves!
