Location was great, service overall was amazing, valet car experience faultless, the room was spotless and the bed was comfy. Swimming pool and rooftop bar were great
Breakfast was the only disappointment - we expected that there would be a buffet breakfast but were presented with a very limited breakfast menu and any item to add (bacon/ mushrooms etc) were close to $10 per item.
We chose the breakfast burger and decided to eat only the contents thereof (avoiding carbs) and every item in the burger was unpleasant. The bacon was very leathery and had a slice of cheese melted into it, the egg was cold, the onion rings were oily and cold. We actually felt quite nauseated by the breakfast.
If there were other options we were certainly not informed of them by the staff, and it felt embarrassing to ask. We were the only two people in there for breakfast at the time, and will certainly never book a breakfast with the room again. We even discussed that it would be a risk to eat dinner at the restaurant in future, even though the hotel stay in itself was very nice.

The Alva was a beautiful hotel. It was very stylish and in a great central location . It had an excellent rooftop bar and pool area. The rooms were well appointed and very clean and comfortable .
There was nothing I didn’t like about the Alva. The property was lovely, the location great, and staff very helpful.

The Night Manager ! She was a ball of energy, smiles, sweet, happy and above fast and attentive to our needs. She knew what, where and when with the place. Nothing was a problem and most of all we were greeted with a smile and service.
Sorry she was the only asset in your employ that made our stay bearable.
We got there, spent my time unloaded my car, had to get our own porters trolley and load the bags yourself - May I say there were no other guests checking in. Went to reception, average welcome, and check in time was so slow and not great apporx 30 mins. Asking can I use a Hotel X Gift Voucher for another night I was told to call reservations in the morning they can tell you. Nothing like let us take that for you and we will let you know once it is applied to your room. Arrived to the room, it smelt like musty not aired but it was clean enough. No pen or Pad in the room. It was by Chance the Night Manager or front Desk Lady had my voucher applied somehow to my room for the following night - She was the only Service based person on the entire staff. Calling down to front desk the last morning was impossible, 8am-11am it rang out, Calling Reservations was impossible 8am-11am it rang out. Called the Front Desk for the 1001 time to have a late check out got through just that once and told NO sorry you cannot have a late check out, Never in my life have I been told no to a late check out with Hotel X, mind you I am sure you would have charged me as well.
This use to be my Most Favorite Hotel to stay at, it was modern, upmarket, had its own style and felt on the edge. Returning this time I found it to be so under standard and below average from the staff, service and upkeep. I find the hard question in asking why since its the same group that owns it still , its not new name new beginnings the prices are more expensive than the deals use to be and you get so much less than before.
I am sorry I had to write this review but alas I am now on the search for my NEW Favorite Hotel In Brisbane.
