Excellent location, we had a great vacation! We are a family with 3 kids, we had so much fun, the house worked out well! We liked the multiple bedrooms and bathrooms. The washer and dryer were very useful. There were games and legos, that was a hit! We were able to cook and enjoy dining-in using the kitchen. Sitting on the covered deck and looking out at the lake was so awesome. The view from the bedroom was also! We really enjoyed our stay, there were just a few things that would have been nice to have: a larger bed in the main bedroom, several light camping chairs to take to the beach, a shelf to store groceries in the kitchen, and wi-fi. Trying not to work on vacation, but it is not always possible and wi-fi is very useful. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Returned to Sunset View mainly because our dog’s were allowed and the yard (across from Crystal Lake) is fenced. Owners have dogs and neighbors have been kind and tolerant of our dogs. 6 days into stay, 2 voicemails were left 5 minutes apart by 2 different Vacasa reps; both citing “multiple neighbor complaints” about “excessive dog barking” “lunging” and “owners contacted” as well as “eviction” if not brought under control. When I called local management asking why we weren’t contacted sooner and how this escalated I was told a single neighbor emailed owners last night threatening to go to village council if our dogs didn’t stop barking and the owners asked we be called the next morning because it was late. The 2 voicemails were from a call center whose reps messages were read from notes on computer screens making it sound like there was not 1 complaint day before by 1 person but multiple complaints by multiple neighbors and threatening eviction. The local Vacasa rep was no better in communication texting me she’d call me shortly after my initial voicemail, which she didn’t, myself finding the truth about the 1 complaint by calling her later that afternoon. She also did not respond to my voicemail and texts about leaving a day early, which we did, having felt threatened, unwelcome and received zero customer assurances from Vacasa. It’s completely understandable to get a complaint about excessive dog barking and be able to do a better job curbing it. It should have been as simple as relaying a complaint and assuring the neighbor and owners we received their message, apologized and going forward assured them we’d do better keeping an eye on the dogs and barking. Instead we were threatened with eviction and ignored and left early feeling unwelcome. Further frustrating was my repeated attempts communicating to local Vacasa rep we were leaving a day early (no responses) only to get pushed notifications about checking out the next day. I feel for the owners having to deal with an irate neighbor threatening them and an impersonal management agency.

The location, trail, local shops and lake are fabulous. Crystal Lake is clear and enjoyable. The house was as described, and exceeded expectations. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and more than functional. Most important, this was the cleanest rental that we have ever stayed in. Spotless. An old cottage is delightful if it is clean.
