For guests looking to get out and explore, the Acadia National Park carriage roads and trails are virtually at your doorstep, while the Village Green and Seal Harbor Beach, with Sutton Island and Islesford on Little Cranberry Island visible in the distance, are only a quarter-mile walk. Make fun and lasting memories through Wildwood Stables, less than a mile away, and take time to dine at the Jordan Pond House, a historic restaurant and shop that sits on a hill overlooking the Jordan Pond. And for even more shopping, dining, and entertainment options, Bar Habor is just eight miles north of this home. This home is adjacent to Ledgewood 7 and Ledgewood 11A; they can be rented separately or all together by multiple families traveling together. THINGS TO KNOW There is no cell service in this area; at the home, there is a landline with free nationwide calling. This vacation rental is not equipped with air-conditioning. Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles. Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit. More information can be downloaded from the "Rental Agreement" on the checkout page. Due to local laws or HOA requirements, guests must be at least 25 years of age to book. Guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of the reservation.

There is black mold throughout the house. You can see it and smell it. The furniture is old, unmatched and uncomfortable. The staircase is narrow and steep.Beds are uncomfortable. I would not recommend this property.

This was a great little place. We realize why people were making comments about the stairs, but it is a small cottage environment and the stairs were just fine. While the furniture is a little old, we felt it added to the rustic environment that we were anticipating visiting the general Acadia national Park area. We would recommend this place and even consider returning on a future trip. Not sure why everyone was making a big deal about the stairs. Thanks for a great stay.

Great location for hiking Acadia NP. Inquired if there was a fire pit, the booking agency said no, but we found out as we were leaving that there was a shared fire pit-disappointed.
Stairs to bedrooms were very steep-ok for able adults, but hazardous for children and others.
Enjoyed the accommodations and location.

We absolutely loved our time while in Acadia! A must see for everyone! This house was perfectly positioned close enough to bar harbor to be an enjoyable and scenic ride while also close enough to Acadias entrance for a convenient ride! We enjoyed every moment!

I do not like writing this review as the property is a fun little house in a perfect location.
Unfortunately, the mold/mildew in this house makes it unlivable for anyone with even the slightest sensitivity to mold.
The shower has wood walls and is covered in black mold which permeates the entire first floor. We only slept in the house and could not use it for cooking, cleaning or relaxing.
In my opinion this property should be removed from listing until the aforementioned mold issue if remedied permanently.

House needs a lot of work; gas grill barely works, trash cans missing, shower door leaks, doors & windows hard to open, and the kitchen is barely stocked. Listing should mention more clearly that there is no A/C, backyard is not fenced, and the landline doesn't work (didn't need it). Liked how close house was to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Not recommended for seniors due to steepness of stairs.

First of all I will say the stairs are DANGEROUS!!
2 beds upstairs make it difficult to use the downstairs bathroom at night. It would be very dangerous for young children or older adults! The home was filthy and outdated. The furnishings were torn and dirty. The shower was old and the toilet was rusted and cracked. Coffee pot was disgusting. Beds were lumpy and very squeaky. Plenty of towels and the linens were clean. The property management company was wonderful to work with but the stay was awful. Also NO washer and dryer as advertised and no closets to hang clothes in the bedrooms.

I'll get the bad stuff out of the way first because they were almost deal breakers. First off, we got there on one of the few 90 degree days on Mount Desert Island. I get not having central A/C, but they at least need some window units. The upstairs bedrooms are two tiny saunas and were borderline uninhabitable that first night. Fortunately, we were waking up to see the sun rise on Cadillac Mountain. Didn't have to set an alarm!
Second, the stairs. I know a lot of people come to MDI to do challenging hikes involving ladders and rungs, but once you get home, you shouldn't have to do another one to get to your bedroom. These stairs are ridiculous. They can't be up to code, and someone will get seriously injured on them if this place continues to get rented out. It's inevitable. They are not wide enough to walk like a normal person so you kind of have to do this lateral shuffle thing. And they are taller than they are wide. Trust me, it's bad.
After deciding not to flee and the weather cooled off, it wasn't so bad. We became pretty good at navigating the stairs. Everything worked in the house, the kitchen was decently equipped with a lot of cookware, a toaster, a coffee maker, an electric kettle, etc. It wasn't sparkling clean, but it wasn't distractingly dirty and the linens and towels were fine.
But those stairs? Avoid this one if you aren't desperate.

Close to it all
We really enjoyed our stay in Seal Harbor. The house was clean, cozi, and a great location for everything Mt. Desert Island has to offer. A return trip is in our future! Thx for the memories

This home is not as advertised. The yard is not enclosed, so you should NOT let the “kids and the dogs play in the enclosed yard, while you watch from the furnished patio.” Your kids or dogs will escape, as mine did.
The WiFi information provided on check in is wrong. And the listing clearly states that “there is no cell service in this area.” When we complained about this after leaving the island (when there was cell service again) we were told that we should have notified a customer agent sooner, as they could have addressed the issue in real time. Obviously, if we had a way to file a complaint during our stay, we would have.
Lastly, the bed linens were stained and soiled. I sent pictures of all the issues listed, and I was told by their customer service agents that nothing could be done. I will be filing a complaint with my credit card company, and I urge anyone looking at this home or planning to book with this agency to look elsewhere.
