About this house rental
Located in Iowa, this attractive house for $350 per night is a great option for your next break. This large timberframe home is an ideal country getaway in a private peaceful location (surrounded by 120 acres of woods, valley, grass, and farm ground). Enjoy beautiful views from the spacious kitchen, large living areas, deck, or screened-in porch. Spend time outdoors with walking trails, large playground, basketball hoop, large grass areas for sports, and hills for sledding. Located: 20 minutes from Monmouth, IL; 25 minutes from Galesburg, IL; and 35 minutes from Macomb, IL. You will have the entire house to yourself. This timberframe home is 4,500 sq ft and was built on the top of a hill overlooking a valley and woods. It was built with reclaimed barn beams from one of my great Grandpa's barns and insulated concrete walls surrounding most of the house. The home has a whole house audio system with speakers in different locations on the upper level and main level. You can connect your own mp3 player or phone to play music in several rooms or use our CD player to play CDs from a large classical music collection. The main level has 1800 sq ft of living space. The master bedroom is located on this level and has a king size bed, walk-in closet, and master bathroom with a shower and a whirlpool tub. There is also a small bedroom with 2 toddler beds and a large pack 'n play that can be used as a crib. Besides the bedrooms, there is also a large modern kitchen, mudroom, laundry room, 1/2 bathroom, and large living/dining area with wood burning fireplace and vaulted ceiling that is 30 ft to the peak of the roof. From the open living/dining area, you can walk out to a screened-in porch that overlooks the valley. This entire main level is accessible from the garage with no steps required. On the upper level, there is 900 sq ft of living space. There is a bathroom with a shower. Next to the bathroom are two different bedrooms. Both bedrooms are enclosed with a door and walls, but two of the walls do not go completely to the vaulted ceiling. Please see pictures. One bedroom has a queen size bed, desk and dresser. The other bedroom has a queen size bed, chair, and dresser. There is also a loft reading area with a large selection of books and another open room on the east side of the house with a table and older TV with a dvd player. The lower level is a partially finished 1800 sq ft walk-out basement with a large bedroom with 4 twin beds, walk-in closet, bathroom with tub/shower, large play room with toys and mini basketball hoops, and large room with couches, TV, music keyboard, and games/puzzles. The storage room is locked and not available for use. From the walk-out basement, you can access a concrete patio which is underneath the screened-in porch. There is an outdoor fire pit near the patio. Our property has a variety of things to do outside: deck with Traeger wood pellet grill, screened-in porch, outdoor fire pit, trails through the woods, large playground equipment, large grass areas to play soccer/kickball/football/baseball, large concrete area with basketball hoop, and hills for sledding. It is quite common to see wildlife on our property, including deer or turkey. The house and property are very peaceful and quiet due to its remote location. It is between 15 - 30 miles to Monmouth, Galesburg, or Macomb. Please note that the property is located on a county maintained gravel road. We also have an outdoor security camera to monitor the front door area.

Overall, a nice property. It provided the soace we needed to celebrate Christmas with our family.
The large kitchen and great room were a huge plus. The downside was that sound travels VERY easily through out the home.

If you like quiet, peaceful and comfortable, you will like your stay. Great place for conversation, reflection, and sharing stories. The home is remote but, our GPS took us right to it, and that remoteness is part of the charm and beauty of the experience. We are golfers so finding two very nice AFFORDABLE courses nearby, one in Monmouth and one in Galesburg, was a bonus. The home is so well designed and beautiful. I am a home designer and construction mgr by trade and was impressed. I could go on and on about the unique and energy efficient construction, but not now. God willing, we all want to try and get together there again.

We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again! Our biggest complaint was the slowest brewing coffee pot ever and the upstairs bedroom walls not going up to the ceiling allowing additional noise to travel in from the rest of the house.

This was our 4th time staying here, and it never disappoints. It is always very clean, and there were several great updates. The house is perfect for families. There is plenty to do both in and outside the house. Highly recommend!

The house has a cozy feel that makes you feel right at home. The kitchen is large and well stocked.
Neat interior with the vaulted barn style beams and ceiling. The upstairs bedrooms don’t have a ceiling so you can see the peaked roof which is neat but it’s also harder to lay down the young children at night if people are still talking on the main floor as the sound carries right up to the bedrooms. We used a sound machine that helped a lot!

We had a great stay at Jen's house. We had 6 adults and 4 kids ages 4-9. The kids loved the basement and playset and the adults enjoyed the peaceful environment. The house was well stocked for everything we needed. If we are ever in need of a place to stay in this area in the future we would definitely book this home again.

Pleasant and peaceful place to stay which was close to our family we came to visit. Outside perfect for children to play and inside perfect when weather dictated inside play. Our group had a great time here! Tons of land to explore, wonderful atmosphere, and spacious house! The three floors were more than enough space for our group of 10 and had no problems finding a place to sleep or relax the whole time. Great features throughout the house and the communication with the hosts was amazing if we ever needed anything. Check in/ check out plan was very clearly laid out as well. Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here to celebrate Christmas with our whole family. The home is unique and beautiful, and well stocked for a nice getaway. We would consider staying here again during spring or summer. Jen was very responsive when I had questions, and we could not have had a nicer time.

This is a really great place for a family gathering. Very large house with a lot of seating, sleeping, and playing space. We had a few friends getting together for a little weekend. The location is beautiful, and the accommodation is very nice. Kids would especially love this place, as there's a playground and also indoor play space. We enjoyed our stay here!

This property was perfect for our needs! Kitchen was very well-stocked. Everything that we had need of was included: pellets for the grill, chairs for around the campfire, firewood for the firepit, towels, washrags, etc. Jen was quick to answer all of our questions about the property before our stay and has left a well-detailed binder and great check-in/check-out instructions check-list for guests to use! Very helpful and very well-thought out. We enjoyed our stay!

The location was perfect for our family vacation. The children loved the space to play outdoors! The kitchen and eating areas available were wonderful for a large family! The house was furnished very well with plenty of towels, wash clothes and extra blankets. We had a five star experience at this place and would highly recommend it!

Even though we no longer have toddlers, this would be so easy to travel here with one - there were toddler beds, pack n play, booster seats, and even children's dishes and silverware. Host was very quick to reply when I messaged her with questions beforehand, and check-in was easy. They left a nice manual with checkout procedures and house rules that also had additional information such as where to find things in the huge kitchen, and how to operate various items (it was my first time using an induction cooktop!) We had a lovely time and never even left the property.

We stayed here with family for a 50th anniversary weekend and enjoyed having the entire property for the kids to play. The house is beautiful and very clean.

Perfect Girls Getaway!
This property was perfect for our multi-generational family girls weekend. It's impeccably clean and the hosts have thought of everything to make your stay extra fun and very comfortable! The house manual provided gives you all the details on exactly what to do at check-in and check-out, where to find and how to work everything in the house, plus emergency info, contact info, and local interest information. We cooked all of our meals at the house and enjoyed being able to gather in the large kitchen to cook together. Lots of entertainment including books, music, games, outdoor seating, and connected TV. It's a scenic drive getting to the property and beautiful views to enjoy while you're there. We spent most of our time on the screened porch playing games, chatting, watching the deer and turkeys, and enjoying the fresh air (with no bugs!). Lots of options for sleeping arrangements - including first floor, second floor, and basement bedrooms. Fabulous hosts and a peaceful getaway!

Perfect for family reunions and retreats!
This property is a treasure! It's perfect for groups with a large age range as there is something for everyone. I was especially impressed with how many amenities there were for our under-12 grandchildren. They were never bored!! Just about everything we needed for our toddler was provided. All over the house items were provided to make our stay special. The property is clean and well maintained, even with all of the land surrounding the house. The hospitality of the hosts was superb. They were responsive to our communications and thoughtful to our situation. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a place accommodating a diverse or large group. If we gather in that area in the future, we will definitely try to book it again!
