Awesome location (by car) and we loved the traditional house. It's beautiful and we were welcomed very warmly. Of course noise isolation isn't good and you hear other people talk in the rooms because the walls are paper thin, but that's how it is with traditional ryokans. We really liked the atmosphere and there was no "traffic jam" in using the shared bathroooms either.
The sink in our room barely had water, but we filled a bottle from downstairs so it was fine.

Great place. We met new people every day. Barbara-san, the owner, was super-nice and helped us everywhere she could, even in improving our japanese :) itekimasu!

The staff and Barbara are super welcoming and joyful, the traditional house was beautiful and has some nice story behind. We were at the 2nd floor the stairs were a bit high (my mother being a senior had some struggle but it went well lol) but the rooms are the most beautiful and you have a beautiful view of the Minato river
Best to rent a car (a general recommendation about Yakushima, transports are not ideal and taxi can be expensive) and to buy some groceries before coming since opening hours vary and are not always reliable on Google

It's perfectly situated for a stay on Yakushima. Barbara is a truly wonderful host, and provides an experience that sums up Yakushima perfectly!
I could have stayed longer. -_-::
