The breakfast was good, with a lovely fruit salad and fresh toast which we could do ourselves. My husband would have liked the option of a boiled egg,

Good location, lovely old building and nice room.
Room very noisy, directly above bar so could hear general bar noise until it closed and then could hear any movement in the room above ours (it seemed like they were stamping around from 1am to 1:40am and then again for about half an hour at 4am! Take earplugs (we didn’t have any)!
Poor food options if you are staying on a Sunday evening - the restaurant was not open in the evening, we were told on check-in our only options were to eat at the outside bar which was serving burgers, sandwiches and chips until 7:30pm or to use the Chinese Takeaway opposite! We got food at the outside bar (burger and chips served in a takeaway box), it was raining, we tried to sit in the small undercover area but it was full of people smoking so ended up having to take our food inside, we ate it in the Residents Lounge. Not a great experience when we thought we would be able to eat in the hotel restaurant!
Also just for information for others looking to book - the included breakfast is Continental only. We didn’t have a problem with not having a cooked breakfast, but other residents were not happy about this!
