The Sand at Ocean Palms Retreat is a beautifully renovated 2 bedroom, 2 bath, second floor apartment located mid-island with canal views and tranquil neighborhood. Two blocks to the beach mid-way between two beach access points. Canal views from the windows and balconies. Manatee, dolphin, and palm trees galore from your kitchen, dining, living room and balcony of your unit. Fully equipped kitchens with a Keurig Coffee Machine, additional seating for guests, Dishwasher, Rain Shower heads and spa shower panels where equipped. Hotel style five star linens and towels complement our comfortable surrounds so you can unwind and relax in style. High speed internet, WiFi, Alexa, streaming music and lookup features, 4k streaming smart TV, coded door locks and smart thermostat capabilities, Remote fan and light controls, Recessed lighting with dimmer controls add to the mood setting enjoyment of your stay. Fort Myers, Bonita Springs and Naples are all modern cities with plenty of shopping, dining and sightseeing to experience. The South West International Airport in Fort Myers is close by for convenience as well. While the beach is as inviting as ever, please note that the Fort Myers Beach area is rebounding from Hurricane Ian and not all amenities are available yet. Construction and rebuilding is present on the island and moving fast. The current status of restaurants and other amenities on the island is in a state of change and island amenities may not be available or operating. Pet friendly restrictions and fees apply. Dogs are permitted up to 25 lbs and non-aggressive breeds only with pet fee paid in advance. Pets restricted to dogs only, no other pets allowed and penalties enforced. Excess cleaning charges may apply. Dogs must be leashed when outdoors, must be cleaned up after and can't be walked on anyone else's property. The property is exactly as stated in the description. Very close to beach and a fantastic view of the canal. We returned one to to find the power was off, made one call and someone was there to get it fixed within 15 minutes. Nicely decorated, cozy, perfect place to stay. Would definitely rent again!

We came for a long weekend to attend my father in laws 70th birthday. We decided to stay on the island since we love being near the beach. We will definitely try and book the same unit in the future as we will be spending a few months a year going forward. The only downside was the dishwasher did not work at all. Overall a positve experience. Hopefully we will be back soon.

I arrived 1.5 hours past check-in, housekeeping was there. I was not notified of a late check-in prior to this. I came back in an hour and was unable to get in. After MANY attempts and verifying I had the code PROVIDED I called Coastal Breeze as they are “managing” the property. No answer. I left several messages, emailed, called the maintenance number provided. Maintenance told me they did not have an account. I called VRBO who stepped up and found me a place for the night. Not ideal, but at least I had somewhere to go. At 11:30 that night Thomas contacted me and told me I would be refunded for the night, and he would look into it. He told me MANY times how odd it was that everyone else could get in, in a mansplaining sort of way. Makes me wonder if the code is rotated. He also said they didn’t have maintenance because there was a hurricane. Well, that hurricane was not in the prior week when I was sent the information. The next day I was told “maintenance” was able to get it and how odd it was I couldn’t. Then he texted me the FULL AND CORRECT CODE! Yea! I have been trying for a month to get a refund for that night, yet deserve two nights. He has been incredibly coy about this and ultimately said the owner of the property said no. Thomas is unable to show me where in the contract the FULL code was provided. Overall, the place itself was fine, just know the pics provided are of the adjacent property. Similar, yet different. I would not recommend staying anywhere CB manages.

We are in pain to see the devastation after hurricane Ian hit this Island and other areas nearby. We have the feeling our stay was the last stay of people in this property. So unreal to see places on the island were we have been and they are totally gone. We had dinner next to the pier. Nothing is there anymore. Really feel sad 😞

This rental is located centrally on the island and we walked to the beach, not too far. There’s also a Publix grocery close by. We went to several different areas on our stay, Sanibel, Naples, and Cape Coral, and found the central location to work very well for us. It was a 10-15 minute drive to the north end of Fort Myers beach where there are a lot more restaurants, bars, and the pier. We were happy with our choice and wouldn’t hesitate to stay if we are ever in the area again!

This is a very nice property, and it is well-maintained. The screened porch on the second floor faces a canal, and is an enjoyable place to hang out. All the appliances are modern, but the kitchen could use some more tools and a blender. Furniture and beds are ample and comfortable. Excellent value for the price.

The Sand at Ocean Palms
The apartment was very clean with a homey feel to it. Everything was in working order. We had problems with the television you tube TV service but Nick was sent to help us, what a godsend. We had an excellent time here and already reserved for next year.

We had a great stay! Here are some suggestions: The kitchen could use more glasses and coffee mugs we felt that we had to run dish washer every day because there were only 4 cups only 1 large glass. The beds are comfortable but both beds had no mattress pads. The air conditioner broke but prompt service took care of issue which was appreciated. Traffic is bumper to bumper on Estero so bring your walking shoes!

My husband and I rented the property for a couple weeks to bring our two small dogs and just warm up during the winter. We were delighted that the beach is just a few blocks away! The house has a great view of a canal from the screened in porch and kitchen. We loved having two beds and two baths, simply to store things in the 2nd bedroom out of our way and for each of us to have a bath to use. There was a problem with the grill on site, but management of the property brought a new one within 24 hours. A very quick response and they brought a NEW grill! I don't think there was anything we were missing on premises. It was a phenomenal experience for us!

The unit is centrally located on the island. It was very comfortable and clean. We loved the way it was decorated and the view of the canal from the front window is a Kodak moment. We would definitely stay there again!

We had a great time at this unit. It was really clean, had good supplies for the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry. The location was great, about half way b/w Times Square and Lover's Key. The neighborhood was quiet, had great views up the canal and was just a short walk from the beach. We'd definitely rent this one again!

An amazing stay!
We had a great time at this unit. It was really clean, had good supplies for the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry. The location was great, about half way b/w Times Square and Lover's Key. The neighborhood was quiet, had great views up the canal and was just a short walk from the beach. We'd definitely rent this one again!

Overall nicely updated older apartment within a 4-plex (not a duplex as I had assumed). Short walk to the beach. New slider out to the nice screened porch. New kitchen appliances. Wide, deep sink. Dimmable recessed lighting throughout. Large bedrooms. Updated, but cramped main bath/shower (my "pandemic 15" did not help). Shower head needs securing. Open hole in tile next to shower head - just needs some patching-up. Water pressure wasn't such that we could get the full benefit of the multiple spray heads (IMO) - but this was a non-issue for me personally. No mattress cover on the beds; several morings I awakened with my face on the bare mattress as the fitted sheet had come undone - probably my fault, but I would not want this happening with renters...I would get a matress pad or cover and have the cleaning service rewash this each time (if this service is offered?). Shared laudry was not as huge a deal as I had feared. Ants were present (but this is S. Florida); alerted the responsive property manager who assured us there is regular pest control. SUV will likely not fit underneath the carports - so no great shade if you're concerned. Original Pan Am crank windows likely need to be replaced for increased energy efficiency/air conditioning (IMO) - we were running the A/C the entire week. I appreciated the supplied hand soap, dish soap, paper towels, kitchen towels and dishwasher pods.
The overall biggest let-down was the lack of kitchen essentials, or what I would consider essential:
1) cheese grater
2) wine opener
3) only 4 forks for our family of 4
4) blender
5) hand mixer
6) muffin pan
7) measuring cups/spoons
8) pizza cutter
9) wisk is plastic (and bends when using; not very sturdy)
10) cooking basics (e.g. salt/pepper/oil)
This was only my 2nd stay in a VRBO property, so I'm not 100% sure what is typical for the kitchen. I can understand if renters continue to break/lose things that it would be frustrating to continually have to replenish items. Not sure how I would handle this as an owner as I feel my perspective might be different. The property manager indicated any future replacement items would be at the owner's discretion. The Keurig, Amazon Echo and Nest thermostat are nice touches, but for my $$ as a renter, they are canceled out when I have to rewash my fork after every meal. IMO, if you replenish or increase the kitchen essentials, I think this would provide a more satisfying overall renter experience!
