Breakfast was great, the beds were supremely comfortable. The road was a little noisy with the window open but the climate control was excellent.
The food in the restaurant was very good and the service was friendly and warm. We even extended our stay we enjoyed it so much. The smell of the room was wonderful, the wood had a lovely fragrance and it made for the perfect mountain retreat.

Family owned and operated Al Capriolo is a great option to stay near Cortina D'Ampezzo. Ample free parking and spacious rooms with natural light and a spacious bathroom. The decoration details make you feel at a family home more than a hotel. Valentina, Beatrice and Massimiliano were super nice and welcoming. Breakfast had plenty of fresh options and eggs and coffee were à la carte. We dinned twice in their restaurant, the food was deliciously prepared and served, and their mixed salad was so fresh we had to order another one the same night.
We understand that the summer season was very busy and that the staff worked really hard, but it would be great if the restaurant team could have a welcoming smile on their faces. It felt they were not happy doing their job. Once you engage in conversation which each of them you realize they are very nice people.

Not many vegetables served as a dinner option despite plentiful supply in supermarkets.

The room was spacious and clean.
We were informed when checking in that the sauna was broken. The private sauna was the main reason we chose this accomodation and informed the owner we are extremely disappointed and that we want the money difference between a normal room and a spa room. She informed us that we have to settle it with Booking and gave us the option of having 1 day of spa to a local spa in the town. We decided not to go with that option and messaged booking in the next second after finalizing the checkin.
The next day, the owner insisted we have a free lunch at the property for our inconvenience and big disappointment, but never mentioned that this would be a settlement for it in any way - we didn't even want it at first, but she really insisted and we thought she was just being nice and really regretted not repairing the sauna in time for our arrival. So basically we had a dinner of ~70 euros to compensate for a 200€ loss.
In this time, Booking did not reply to our messages - which was totally unprofessional and a very bad customer experience
Once we left the accomodation, we did give a reminder to booking and they said there is nothing they can do as the dinner was the settlement. We said we can give back the 70euro and be refunded with the 200euro, but of course the owner did not want that.
Horrible customer experience - hope this property learn something from this...booking as well.
