The New Inn

Lovely inn with a great bar and separate dining room. The room was well appointed and the bed very comfortable. We had an excellent meal in the dining room and the continental breakfast was very good.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The room size was wonderful too.

The pillows need to be improved. They are extremely flat.

Location exactly as described. Host was great, Environment was clean, tidy and everything as it should be. Parking is easy. There are only 3 rooms available and are up angled stairs, there is no lift at it a 1600 coaching inn. Décor is modern and pleasant, facilities are good, clean and the hot water is lovely and hot. Breakfast is continental and set out with choices of meats, cheese, smoked salmon, bread/toast, local butter and normal selection of jams etc, cereals, fruit, yogurt, granola. Milk options are also available. The evening menu is limited if you are going to be staying for more than a couple of days, as its is changed every week (I think), again the produce is lovely and the Butternut squash soup is fabulous! If you want to bring your own food and eat in your room, that is also ok. Bar staff are courteous and they have a nice selection of bottled beer and wine and the gin selection is good too. Its a very popular eatery and the restaurant was busy on both nights which is a good sign. Bed was comfortable, with two pillows each, and wardrobe space was good. Mini Fridge and a good selection of tea and coffee options and also your own filter coffee option. The bedding and towels can be changed each night if you wish, but as we were only there for 2 nights its wasn't necessary. The whole weekend was lovely, we ran a tab with room and paid at the end of our stay, which made things so much easier. Locally there there are other pubs and a garden centre with the a tea room/restaurant and local produce shop, very easy to spend in there lol.

This is not a criticism just an observation if you have the Fox Room, which is where we stayed, it has a small bathroom. Shower is a good size and the sink and toilet are next to each other, with the shower at the end. If you need more physical space to move around, then this could be difficult.

The room was recently renovated and the bed comfortable. The bathroom is tiny but the shower exceptional! Also, the staff were super friendly!

1. The Inn is located at the junction of two busy roads with traffic racing by through the night! There is no double glazing on the roadside window and so the noise is very loud. The hotel gives you earplugs but these only help marginally! In the extreme heat not having a window open isn’t an option which makes the problem much worse 2. Breakfast is a small continental breakfast with limited choice. Pastries were burnt and there weren’t enough for all guests. This seemed to be the only inn locally not offering a cooked breakfast too! 3. Pub food was okay but disappointing given that it is advertised as an Inn offering food with rooms…
