Nestled in Saugatuck, this lovely house for $1,450 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Remodeled Family Size Beach Retreat, Closest Cottage to Lake Michigan as far as the Eye Can See!!! Completely remodeled in 2018, this house carries the charm of its 100 year history, is equipped with most modern comforts and conveniences, and is ready to build family memories. The location couldn't be more perfect, or rare! This is THE closest house to the water as far as you can see North or South from the deck! There are no scalding dunes to cross, or never ending stairs to climb, just amazing endless shoreline and panoramic views from almost every room! The Lake Michigan sunset doesn't get better or CLOSER than this! Enjoy expansive enclosed decks, great for children and well-behaved dogs. Brand new seawall (2021) encloses a private raised beach area just a few steps off of the lower deck. Your nesting space has sleeping arrangements for 10 people. Accommodations include: - Lower master bedroom with King size bed and en-suite bathroom with bathtub, shower and two sinks overlooking the Lake - Upper bedroom with Full size bed and closet/dresser - Lower bedroom with Queen bed and a twin bunk bed (child-safe with railings) - Lower bedroom with two twin beds - Lower sleeper sofa with 60-inch wide by 65-inch long mattress Three full bathrooms: - One in the master suite (tub) - One other on the lower level (tub) + washer/dryer - One on the upper level (shower) The home has two living room areas, one upper and one lower: The upper living area features access to the expansive deck off of the kitchen, TV, wet bar, gas fireplace, beautiful fully equipped kitchen, bedroom and full bathroom. The lower level features a living room with sleeper sofa, TV, access to enclosed deck, full bathroom, twin bedroom, bunk plus queen room and Master with adjoining full bathroom, both with amazing water views! Your nest is also equipped with a vacuum, high chair, rocking chair, fireplace grate, folding table and chairs for 6, beach chairs, toys, beach towels, games, 2 outdoor picnic tables to accommodate 12 total, umbrellas, outdoor grill, and 8 Adirondack chairs. The upper level deck has dining tables and seating for 10. Parking is located at street level with newly decked, enchanting wooded staircases and pathway to follow down to your nesting place at the waters edge! Great access to beach on Lake Michigan and close to Douglass and Saugatuck. House was very comfortable with beautiful views of the Lake. Conveniently furnished with lots of dishes, linens, nice TVs. We would definitely rent this location again!

Location is awesome. Really neat house right on the water. House is well stocked with all essentials to make it a great stay. Parking was a little awkward . You park on the street then climb down several flights of stairs and a wooden walkway thru woods to get to house.

This property has a lot going for it. The location is excellent. Right on the beach and beautiful sunset views. The home was very clean. Great bathrooms. Plenty of towels and everyday items like soap, paper towel and toilet paper.
Tons of kitchen ware but many items are very worn. Needs some weeding out.
Two of the wooden and two of the Adirondack chairs are broken, understandable at the end of the season, but should be removed.
Not sure how anyone has been able to get the main tv in the living room to work (and we had two generations give it a go). Would have been nice to watch something other than the lower level smart tvs.
There are a number of stairs to the actual cottage. Just something to note if you have any accessibility issues. Our major concern was the lack of responsiveness from the host. We arrived Saturday. On Sunday, it was apparent that the dishwasher was broken. We contacted the host and checked things that could easily fix the issue. We informed him that none of his suggestions corrected the problem and never heard from him again. We removed dishes from the dishwasher and hand washed dishes for the length of our stay.
Expected more from a premier host and property. He should have had someone come to check the issue at some point during the week. He did not. Nor did he offer an apology for the inconvenience. Would have made this a truly five star experience.

Parking was an issue. Neighbors were a bit touchy about parking. A bit warm in lower level. Otherwise weather was great. Overall great stay. There was a broken grey chair. Also upstairs shower had a crack on floor.

Almost my whole family from across the country met at this home. First time we have been together since before covid. The house is fabulous! No main dining table - no problem! The large kitchen island was huge and had extra stools to seat everyone. plus the outside seating was plentiful. Plenty of towels and sheets... everything worked. Love the perfect few of lake michigan and the sunsets. The deck was by far a favorite! The only thing I would change is the arrangement of the furniture in the queen bedroom that has the bunk beds. we didn't use the bunk beds and maybe the beds are arranged to easily reach outlets. not sure. But, I feel like it could be arranged a bit better so as to access the queen bed on both sides. All in all a great home and we'd for sure stay there again. THANK YOU! EG COTTAGE!

Like many reviewers, the photos of the Lake don’t do this house justice. There are amazing views from the main living area (sitting room and kitchen) and primary bedroom. In addition, you are so close from some views that it feels like you’re hovering just above the water. If you want to be on the water, this is the place.

Never have lived so close to the Lake. Everyday was incredible, walks on the beach, hikes through the woods, great food from Farmhouse and the beauty of the waves. Perfect family getaway. The cottage was exactly the right size, spotless, well insulated with everything we needed.

We had a great winter trip with our adult kids. The location is perfect- fun to walk on the beach and see the weather ice volcanoes on the lake. The rooms other than the master are a bit small but great for adult kids. Very clean and comfortable. Lots of outdoor deck space we didn’t use because it was cold, but beautiful.

These people could not have been better hosts. What a wonderful property as well. Very clean, right on the beach, minutes from everything. We enjoyed every bit of it and will be returning to Saugatauk and only staying here.

The views were stunning at this home on the beach. Property was as described and is one of a kind. We had no issues at all. There were plenty of blankets and towels. The kitchen was well stocked and had all that we needed. Home is conveniently located to the nearby entertainment. The sunset views on the deck is a great space for creating memories. Would absolutely recommend this as a top place to stay.

I agonized on whether it was fair to rate this as a 4star and not 5, because it was awesome for us, however some improvements could be made.
The location is amazing. AMAZING.
The deck hangs over the water and is better than pics can capture. We spent a lot of time out there and on beach.
We had some solid wind for 2 days which brought waves that were just right for kids to boogie board.
The water stays quite shallow for a long time which also helped.
Brand new grill was awesome.
The house itself is captured very well in pics, and felt slightly smaller in person than I thought but was very functional.
We did not have any issues with neighbors/ parking.
The less than perfect:
Lack of a set of real/ adult wine glasses was a bummer. A few tiny random wine glasses was only option.
The tv setup was less than ideal.
Main tv had a goofy setup with a chromecast, which was broken. Luckily I brought my adapter to my laptop and was able to stream content to the TV from my laptop.
We were told it would be remedied in 2 days, at which point new parts arrived in mail, I attempted to rewire, but was unsuccessful.
The tv in downstairs is smart and we’re able to stream to it for kids.
We did not have any issues with internet, luckily, because cell coverage isn’t great.
Exterior door was broken to deck and we had to keep locked.
Several Kitchen drawers were messed up.
Again, this place has the location nailed and with some tlc could be perfect.

A phenomenal spot, a stunning view from the house, and extremely functional spot to call home for few days. Great amenities. Nice sized living space to spread out, deck space for all guests, and kitchen facilities for cooking. We celebrated our anniversary over a long weekend and it was the perfect place for our family. This made for nice beach time, accommodating spots to hang out and talk, and mealtime was easy with the open kitchen. Thank you for providing the backdrop for our time to remember!

Came in for a long girls weekend at the tail end of summer. The beachfront is spectacular with plenty of sand and shallow entry. The giant wraparound deck was perfect for watching sunsets. The master suite is very nice. Other bedrooms are small which is fine for a beach cabin. I think the upstairs bed is a full, not a queen? Plenty of blankets, bath towels, beach towels and dishes. No problem connecting to the smart TV to watch shows. No dishwasher but hand washing was no biggie. We used the public shuttle to get to and from town which was perfect. Nice neighbors too. You walk past several other properties on the wooden stairway down to the house.

The house has a great location right on the water and the beach is clean and great to walk on and collect rocks/shells. The listing pictures are older as the beach is closer than what it appears (no trees/shrubs to walk through) but the home has some definite wear and tear also not seen in the pictures. Our biggest complaint was the lack of dedicated parking which was not known at booking. We were parking 3 vehicles on the street and found ourselves in constant battle with neighbors who claimed spots to be their personal property. Overall the location can’t be beat but just be aware the home comes with quirks.

Wonderful property
We had a great experience with this property and vacation. The house was just as advertised. It was accommodating, clean, and well-equipped. The location was perfect. It’s a beach-front property but just minutes to town. The owner was responsive and helpful with everything we needed.
The house comfortably housed 9 of us, and there are different spaces for people to explore and socialize, so it didn’t feel like we were crowded into the space.
As stated, there are a lot of stairs to get from the road to the house, so make sure you don’t have mobility problems if you rent this property.
It’s a beautiful property and I highly recommend it.

For those of us coffee drinkers we would suggest a better coffee maker or a Keurig. You are there for the beach and the views true but the comfort of the small things/details really take the experience from great to unforgettable. Thank you!

We loved our Memorial Day weekend on the Lake. Great set up for multiple families and young kids. We love to cook and the kitchen was well stocked just missed a dishwasher.

Great experience front doors needed blinds or curtains to them. Upstairs thermostat was alittle technical. All the bedrooms didn't have a television and it was alot of stairs and walk way to get to cabin.

The property has an amazing view and a great location. Enjoyed walking on the beach right downstairs. Also just a 5 minute drive to downtown Saugatuck. The beds were cozy and having three full bathrooms was convenient. The place was stocked w/ linens/towels/blankets. Would love to come back in the summer time!
