About this cabin rental

Summary:

Consider this your official invitation to leave ordinary behind and step straight into the delightfully eccentric world of Mojave Rock Ranch art culture. Perched on ten sprawling desert acres, this one of a kind cabin throws traditional rules out the window in favor of wild colors, handcrafted mosaics, and pure high desert eccentricity. The interiors burst with playful art, warm textures, and unexpected vintage touches, featuring a king and queen bed setup separated by breezy linen drapes rather than standard doors to keep the creative energy flowing.

LOCAL ADD-ON EXPERIENCES

From sound baths and in-home massages to stargazing under some of the darkest skies in Southern California, we've handpicked local vendors to match whatever mood you're in. Book a personal chef for a lazy night in, saddle up for a horseback ride, or take a guided hike through the National Park or other local trails. However you want to spend your time here, relaxing or adventuring, the desert (and our favorite locals) has you covered. Once your reservation is confirmed, let us know you are interested and we will connect you!

Guest Access:

The property and house is yours to roam and relax.

Getting Around:

We recommend traveling by car to explore Joshua Tree for maximum flexibility, as ride sharing services are unreliable. If you prefer not to drive, the local taxi service Lucky 777 is a dependable option. Our property offers free parking for up to four vehicles to ensure your car is kept secure during your stay.

Other Things to Note:

3:00PM Check-In: We'd love for you to check in before 8pm so you have plenty of daylight to settle in and get comfortable before dark.

Heating & Cooling: There is a mini-split unit in the living area for heating and cooling. There is an additional wall AC unit in the Queen bedroom for cooling during summer months.

Fireplace: The fireplace can NOT be used at this time.

Privacy: Please note that the cabin does not have bedroom doors, the doors are a thick linen material that can be closed for privacy but they are not a solid barrier between the bedrooms and the living room.

Dirt Roads: The cabin is located about 5 miles down dirt roads, please drive with caution and arrive before nightfall when possible. We strongly recommend a high clearance and/or AWD vehicle.

Property: The house sits on a shared 10 acre lot. You probably won’t see anyone while you’re there and the amenities are not shared but you may see people walking to and from their car to the cabin as they’re continuing on with their day.

Pets Allowed: We welcome dogs for a fee of $30 per dog, with a maximum of 2 dogs per stay. Please note that no other pets are permitted at this property.

Wifi: Desert wifi can be super spotty and can go in and out. We have the best service for our rural area but people needing full time high speed might not find those needs met here. Not suitable to work from home from this location.

Guest Policy: We only allow the number of guests listed as the maximum occupancy for this property, so any additional day guests must be requested and approved in advance. No extra overnight guests are permitted beyond those included in your reservation.

Watch your Step: This desert land holds onto bits of its past, so you may spot the occasional rusty object or piece of glass in the yard, please wear shoes anytime you're outside. You'll also be sharing the landscape with local snakes and scorpions. They want nothing to do with you, so if you see one, just back away calmly and quietly

Wood Burning Fires: We do not permit wood-burning fires anywhere on the property at any time, including in fire pits or fireplaces, due to the high risk of wildfire in our area. This policy is strictly enforced for the safety of our guests, neighbors, and the surrounding landscape,.

Desert Critters: Please keep doors closed while entering and exiting, curious critters will let themselves in given the chance. Desert wildlife is part of what makes this area special, expect sightings of jackrabbits, tortoises, roadrunners, quail, and lizards. You may also spot coyotes, rattlesnakes, scorpions, or occasionally a bobcat or mountain lion. Most just want their space, so it's best to give them yours.

Camera/ Decible Monitor: This property has forward-facing exterior security cameras, but there are no cameras anywhere inside the home. We also use noise decibel monitors indoors to help avoid disturbing neighbors. These only measure sound levels and never record audio.

Interaction with Guests:

We like to respect our guest’s privacy, so you won’t see too much of us. We will be available to answer any questions and to make your stay more enjoyable.

This review is for 5/2/26 - 5/4/26. Stayed here a couple nights to catch a show at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown about 30 mins away. First off great communication with the owners & management, very helpful and welcoming. The property itself has so much character and charm. We absolutely loved it. It is a little dim with lightning but not bad. Such a great stay for the price. There are field mice that try to sneak in so just a heads up. Tiny cute little rascals, I was able to catch one and let it out. They do have mousetraps just in case. This was only because the previous guests left the sliding door open. The dirt road to get there isn’t too bad, but pay attention or you can get lost. There is an art installation nearby as well. You have a neighbor to your right then it’s open desert. Not too far from town and away enough to get some peace. We highly recommend it! Thanks again

Beautiful, out of the way place. Unique.

The cabin was OK but really turned off by how overgrown the yards were; the amount of "junk" laying around many parts of the yard and house, broken equipment (you can't replace the lamp shade in the living room basically hanging by threads?), the mattresses were like sleeping on rocks, holes in the walls in the bedroom, the kitchen cabinets looked like they were just thrown together and the drive up to the cabin hopefully didn't take out our suspension. Did enjoy the hot tub, star gazing at night, listening to the quiet and many animal noises (birds and coyotes) and the shower. I am sorry to give this kind of review but the cabin looked like it was pretty run down and needs alot of work. Mainly due to unpaved road unto the cabin, I would not stay here again. Thank you.
