Inga was lovely and showed us around to see if the rooms would suit us best with the exceptionally warm weather. The beer helped too. 🤣

The room and hotel were so fun and vintage style and charming-loved the look of everything. We loved the quirkiness and the comfort was good except for the gross cigarette smoke coming in the windows and the non-shower. Great location, right within the walls on the main road. There was parking but of course other guests were parked strangely not leaving enough room so we had to find something on the road. A room fan was thankfully provided on a warm night.
This hotel is hard to rate because we had an unusual experience-we got in late so our key was left for us in the box. That would have been fine except another guest took our key, and we had no way to get into the hotel. We had to call the owner, with phones that weren't supposed to be used to make phone calls in Europe, she was located outside the city, so we had to wait for her to drive in, find the guest who took our key, and then let us into the hotel and our room! It took at least an hour and was very tiresome and such a hassle after traveling all day. The owner was slightly cranky, who wouldn't be, but she should have offered us a free breakfast or a late checkout instead of sort of blaming us for getting in late, which she knew we were going to do.
People were smoking and talking loudly in the courtyard after midnight, which was right below our room so we had to close the windows, and it was a very hot night. No air conditioning, but a room fan was provided. There was no shower, just a tub with a shower head that could not be attached to a hook or anything higher up on the wall to make a shower, so it was super awkward and the worst bathing experience we had in Germany. The breakfast was too expensive, around $20 per person, which was normal in Germany, but crazy for a family to afford.
