What we loved about this day was just everything the room was very big. The location was perfect and the staff were wonderful. Even had a friendly in-house dog that was adorable. Apple crumble to die for

Ideal location for walking The Ridgeway. Staff excellent, food very good. Rooms were a good size.
Room preparation could be better . Tea and coffee facilities in room but no English breakfast tea all flavoured teas . Shower took a long time to run warm, and difficult to maintain temperature. Think this needs improving.

Absolutely lovely stay. All the staff were so welcoming and friendly to us, we couldn’t have asked for more, our check in was easy and relaxed and our room was spotless with everything we needed and very comfortable.
We also had the pleasure of a evening meal which again was prepared to a very high quality the whole evening was relaxing and felt very welcoming, the manager Ash, was exceptional, it was our anniversary and honestly he made it very special for us, his commitment to detail was the highest level, Thank you !
We also had an amazing breakfast the next morning which again was cooked to the highest standard, we were again welcomed with such friendly hospitality.

Fascinating old inn in a great historic village. The evening meals and breakfasts were superb, freshly cooked and served with a smile. The choice of real ales and wines (including a luscious English rose) was excellent. The large sleigh-bed had a very comfortable mattress.
We stayed on an extremely hot day and the room (No 2) was scorching even after the helpful barman undid the window's kiddy-locks. The supplied fan just pushed warm air around the room but, as all the surfaces, furniture and carpet were already very warm to the touch, it didn't help and was very noisy. The excessive heat wouldn't have been so bad if I'd been able to cool down with a much-needed shower but, despite trying every setting, it would only deliver really hot water. The helpful barman tried to get the shower temperature-control to work but without success; when my wife cautiously took a shower later, it would only deliver extremely cold water! Throughout all this the sink's tap worked fine! Because of the extreme heat (30 degrees C in the room at midnight) we were unable to sleep much at all, even on top of the duvet.
